Not exactly a glowing endorsement from Rohan's new boss.

| Worked in an industry where appointments were made like this many times.
Basically GH saying the recruitment and retention was all down to Smith and it`s his team not mine.
He didn`t say those last 2 words but that`s the gist.
He goes on to say Blease will take on more of a recruitment/retention role and I won`t.
Again the last 3 words are not what GH said.
Basically it`s Smiths fault for this year and if it doesn`t work out it`s Bleases fault.
I can keep my head held high as none of it will be my doing.
If we become successful it`s down to GH making the appointment.
I do think Blease will kick ass and ruffle feathers which is a good thing.
I actually think Smith will walk citing differing opinions.
When is not clear yet.

| We will never know the answer but I wonder if Blease had any conversation with either Ackers or Croft before taking the role. If I were Smith that question would have crossed my mind!

| This means Smith’s days are numbered.
Which is good, as it’s gotta be some kind of human rights violation to subject fans to this on a week in week out basis.

| It doesn't seem like Smith will be going anywhere before the end of the season. He still has chance to save his job

| I don't imagine Smith will leave soon either. But if Blease is going to drive us forward, he needs to put pressure on the first team to perform, as well as looking at staff and player recruitment. We're first and foremost a sporting team on the field, and the performances of the first team drive so many things. I'd imagine one of the first discussions with Smith will/should be to the effect of "why are we playing so badly and what are you doing about it?".

| We need some good assist coaches, a few tough props abd to play a more tried and tested brand of rugby.
If RS doesn't like that he should leave. No one in SL is going to be able to play how he wants.
The refs don't police the rucks enough for a start

ATEOTD its Blease's job to get the playing side firing, its his ass in the breeze if it goes sideways.
I liked what I heard yesterday, especially about leaving the Golden generation gubbins in the past and instead create a new culture and new stories etc. Its also great that weve finally got someone from outside the club to come in and cast fresh eyes on the playing side.

| I don't know if it's just me but GH seemedto provide mitigation for how poor we 've been by alluding to the 'strength' of the competition (which I'd dispute) where as blease seemed more determined to emphasize that nothing below winning comps and being at the top is good enough.

Yes, I also noticed that, and was pleased that Blease seemed far less inclined to make his excuses in advance. It's just a shame that Richie Myler didn't get the job. At a time when we could all do with a laugh his "wheeling & dealing" over at Hull is increasingly Trotteresque.
