Suspect that would be a big legal no no. Or at least Leeds should go that way in the event.

| Its a wise precaution by Leeds, sometimes you have to make the right call even though it might hurt.
Wider implications may vary - without knowing exactly who the player is and which other teams he or she has come into contact with in the last 2 weeks
then it is difficult to know what the repercussions of this will be.
Best case scenario is it is a player who hasn't played the last two weeks and it is only the Leeds squad who is effected.
Worst case he has played against 2 other teams, it has then got out of control - but could also have got out of control in the first scenario, this is the way with these virus's
For me the league should take proactive steps to understand the spread at this time
Check each squad player for the virus and any squad that is effected should be stood down from games for the next 2 rounds
Immediately suspend all games at anything other than first team level
Those two steps will allow the max number of games to go ahead.
They should repeat the testing on a weekly basis to confirm still clear or now clear
It couldn't be too much of an issue as each club has medical staff and testing 30 players each it could be done in a day

| If this virus gets into just one player in an RL team it'll go right through the game.
I guess we assume that these professional sportsmen won't be effected but they can certainly catch bugs with the best of us. I wouldn't bet against one or two become poorly with it either - being fit is obviously a plus factor but we simply don't know for sure.
Hard to see how matches can go ahead when players are such transmission candidates to other players and the wider public.
I can see the season being postponed here, just getting that out there.
Fans might need to bail out clubs to get them through, some only survive on gate receipts.

Comment by Him , Leeds supporter on March 10Some utter whinging nonsense spouted from Catalans in their statement.
Why should Leeds take a big financial hit or further congest their own fixture list when the game can still be played? There is also no mention from Catalans as to what contribution Catalans would make towards Leeds costs for a rescheduled game that would never make a profit.
Catalans say they had a similar issue with Wakefield, they didn’t. That game couldn’t go ahead. This one can.
So what's the difference?

| I dont understand what sinfields saying, on the one hand that with this player suspected of having it others could and it would be irresponsible to put the catalan squad at risk, but on the other hand hes said had it been a game in this country it would have gone ahead?!

I think one of the factors was the fact they were due to fly on a standard flight with members of the public no?

| Reckon RFL might fine us heavily when i think about it. They cant have teams calling games off without their permission whether that reason be right or wrong.
The RFL or SL shouldve taken that decision away from Leeds or Catalans earlier in the week but we all know how inept they are but ultimately its not Leeds' call.
I stand by the clubs decision 100%. Its absolutely the right call but i dont see how the governing body can allow it to go unpunished even in these unprecedented times.
Hope common sense prevails but somehow i think a fine is looming.

It was, but then he also said it was irresponsible to come in to contact with the catalan players so thats a contradiction

| I agree with the point that ultimately it is not Leeds' decision to call off a game, but it IS Leeds' decision as to whether to travel in the current circumstances (with the obvious implication that the game will not happen).
To threaten sanctions in the circumstances is just nonsense. As soon as I read the press release I just shook my head in disbelief at how tone deaf and unnecessary it was.
