| Quote: Juan Cornetto "We have played the majority of matches lacking at least two of our starting props and in some games without our first four choices at the start of the season. You cannot just dismiss this as not having a major effect. Playing without so many big men puts a huge amount on their replacements and in particular our regular 3 back rowers with Delaney and JJB sometimes starting at prop and with Ablett have had to take on the opposition big guys head on in both defence and attack.
JJB, Delaney and to a lesser extent Ablett have been outstanding so far this season despite their age and that they may now being in need of a rest is no surprise and little to do with their age. Ward since overcoming his injury has stepped up in defence but he too will soon need a break despite his young age!
Delaney has had an unfortunate run of injury as has young Ward, which is perhaps more to do with his all-in style of play.
I agree with you about Ferris who has shown none of his previous form for Leeds so far.
Since Sinfield retired I have been advocating the need for a class game manager at 6. Myler has been a very good signing but we still need a 6 especially now it seems Moon will be returning to Oz next season.
We also need a replacement for Galloway and a quick back rower with a football brain like Livett of Warrington.'"
We won the GF without Galloway & have coped without Delaney on numerous occasions so i dont see either missing as "major factors".
Wrt to Jjb Abbo & Delaney needing a rest their age & "over-use" have every bit to do with their lethergy which is why i pointed out our regular lack of rotation.

Lethargy is not a word I associate with JJB (averaging almost 40 tackles per match 5th highest in the league), Delaney or Ablett who have played in 12 of the 13 SL games this season
Galloway was an important solid player for us in the middle defence until he was injured and we have certainly missed his size this year and we lack a replacement of his quality. When you add the loss of Garbutt (missed 10 SL games), Peteru (missed 10 SL matches), Cuthbertson (missed 7 SL games) and with Ward (missed 5 SL games) and Ferres (missed 6 Sl matches) plus long term injuries to Keinhorst and Sutcliffe this is not the same as coping without one prop for the odd game.
The extra workload this put on JJB, Delaney and Ablett must not be underestimated and must be a "major factor" if they are now showing signs of needing a rest. The replacements that had to be used were in the main youngsters who could only really be expected to do limited minutes.
So we should be praising our aged stars who have stood up to the plate and not sniping about their age.

Jjb Delaney & Ablett have been repeatedly "run into the ground" irrespective of injuries to others or not.
As for "sniping" what a load of sentimental BS their workload & minutes were always going to catch up with them that's physical fact not sniping.
The fact they're all starting to struggle physically & look to be coming to the end at the same time is pure mis-management.
As for missing Galloway we improved without him as results & performances proved.

Not for the first time we have different opinions with regard to rugby matters perhaps best left at that

Not so. I have made my points several times now and to keep arguing with negative folk is a pointless exercise as you are only happy when unfairly criticising the players, the coach and the club.
You may have the time to keep going around in circles but I have not

| Juan - I can agree to an extent, but as a group our older forwards are a weakness. You could make a case for any one of Ablett, Delaney and JJB being in a top 4 side individually, but collectively not a chance. Add to that group Ferres and Walters both being poor, and it suggests problems even if all the props are fit.
Ablett, Delaney and Ferres will all be 33/34 next year, as will Cuthbertson, and JJB will be 38. All of those players are out of contract at the end of this year according to Frosties' list. Genuine question for eerybody - which of those should be recontracted, and which players will be?
On a plus note, and because I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere, congratulations to Ryan Hall who has overtaken Drew Turnbull to become the fifth highest tryscorer in the club's history.

Arguing?
As for only being happy when "unfairly" criticising the Players Coach & Club you're missing the points being made both individually & collectively.
Striving for us to improve both short term & long term especially whilst wanting us to stick with proven methods used previously isn't negative.
We disagree on many things but from my own pov it's not arguing & i never will see it as such.

Surely JJB is calling time isn't he? Delaney will likely want to continue but i wouldn't be retaining him unless he is happy to take a lower wage. Ferres has been a massive disappointment for us and unless he stays fit and plays to his pre Leeds form for the next few months he will be gone. Cuthbertson and Ablett i would be happy enough to see get another year.

After Friday I would say none of them should be contracted for next season. However, based on everything else Cuthbertson would be the first I would look to resign of them, and then possibly another year for Ablett purely because of the various roles he can play. Definitely not Delaney and JJB though, that is poor management to do that. Ferres is just an utter waste of space.

| all those mentioned who are coming up to the ages mentioned 33-34 and 38 and OOC would it be wise to let them go all at once ? would all the younger players step up to the plate to take their places ? GH will obviously be busy recruiting ,but I hope he has it sorted now just not announcing things just yet

Powell did it when he took over & aslong as we get the balance right by adding quality signings as well there's no reason it wont work.
