That was my way of thinking too. I'm assuming it was McDermotts as well, because he brought him straight off and it was only the 42nd minute. I can't see it being down to tiredness. And let's put it this way, I can't imagine Peacock losing the ball so easy in that situation.

Totally agree , credit to Manu for not giving it up .

| It's interesting reading this thread compared to some of the threads on our side of the hills.
Credit given to Manu here for outstanding defense. Where as we already have some wanting to ship him back as we have not got the GF sown up already.
The comment about our injuries is a valid one. We do have players out, what else they would have contributed is debatable. I'm not a Perry hater so he may have helped. But in the end the 1st Leeds try was a well worked try, Ade would have still stood off Hall for that jump. In the end it was a tough if not exillerating first 60 minutes, I thought the sides where pretty evenly matched, but Leeds had a far better kicking game, which sapped us of field position for a large part of the 1st half.
We bombed the ball in some decent area's and Leeds had the quality to finish off the few chances there were. The micro analysis on individuals like Vickery for tries is a bit tough. All teams are going to let some in, it's how the players perform overall, not just on the occasions when the line is breached, but also when the line held for the previous 60 minutes before that.
IMHO

| You must have been delighted with Percival's debut?
On a par I'd say with our first thoughts on seeing Watkins' first appearance for us.
Good feet & pace but needs to bulk up.
I thought you missed Hohaia & Puluetua seems to be carrying an injury.
God knows what you'd do if Roby wasn't there though.

The lad did well but give it a few weeks and no doubt some of the factions will be saying he is not Saints quality. It seams to be the fashionable thing to say about our academy nowa days.
Puletua maybe carrying an injury, but he is still one of our more effective forwards. I'm not sure whether LMS will ever become the force we though he would be, that mantle seams to have fallen to Warmsley now.

I agree it won't have been due to tiredness but it never is when McDermott makes a prop interchange in the 42nd/43rd minute of games which is a fairly regular feature of his use of substitutions, so I wouldn't attach any additional relevance to the Kirke no try effort.
__________
On a similar theme craigizzard mentioned Ward perhaps not re-appearing after half-time earlier in the thread - he did but only for the opening four minutes before being replaced by Clarkson.
Like when giving players all of nine minutes at the end of matches Leeds' use of the bench is often a little odd to me while no doubt making perfect sense to some more enlightened others.

| Overall I thought the Leeds performance was very solid. Great line speed and enthusuaism to work for each other on defence. It was a professional away performance at a club where we have a dire record when visiting, so real credit to the boys.
The attack was not fine tuned, but I actually agree with Nathan Brown's after match comments about all teams not quite on the ball in attack at this time of the season. Makes sense.
Also, the game was very watchable, so obvious when you see two teams who clean the ruck quickly, it really makes for a more entertaining game. Leeds and Saints both tried to control the collision and the tackle but then clear the ruck quickly, far too many teams lose control of the collision and then try and slow the game down by f*****g about on the floor. The difference for the spectator is significant.

I agree. The Sky commentators (I use the word lightly) seemed to think the viewers would be disappointed because of a lack of tries. I, for one, appreciated the defensive efforts shown and was totally absorbed throughout. Delaney was fantastic in particular.

| Having watched the match again the second Hall try was a good one with some nice skills from Moon, but Burrow does have a tendency to jink maybe just a little too much and miss the obvious pass to a charging through playerALWAYS be in my starting 17. He is an undoubted talent, tough and with the rare x factor, but his unorthodoxy is not always a hundred percent good.

| With it being such a tight game, there was a point where Leeds knocked on, on the half way line.
We then knocked on at the next play the ball, it was not a try scoring situation, but because it was so close things flew across the living room for giving up the ball so easily.

Percival looked awesome in defence as well as attack: a real find for future internationals against the Aussies alongside Watkins at RC hopefully. Fingers crossed for the lad he doesn't end up like poor Wheeler.
The guy that ALWAYS impresses me is Puletua. Without a doubt the first player I would pick for Leeds from the Saints team if allowed to.

No wonder Manu gets so much criticism. Lol

What about Meli? The guy has helped us win several GF's, the least we could do is offer him a bumper contract to end his career with.
