I still think amor could yet be a stand out sl prop.

IF he can build on his performance for Cumbria and keep level headed then yes ,it could be a crucial year for both Amor and Coady.

In spite of being called a kn0b end, t, dick head, etc – but has every recruitment that GH has made worked out well? I can think of a couple who hardly pulled on a shirt let alone been successful.

I really want Cross to do it for us, I really do but GH isn’t infallible and although he’s brought us plenty of great signings he’s also brought us one or two lame ducks.

My point being that if I’d have voiced a similar opinion about O’Neil or McAvoy I’d be stood here saying “told you so”. So don’t be so fast to jump down my throat if I’m not holding my breath on this one.

I dont think theres a sports club in the history of the world where the man in charge has a 100% record in terms of signings being successful has there? icon_confused.gif

Using the signing of Nathan McAvoy is a hardly a fair comparison - it would have hardly have been revolutionary for you to say that that wasn't going to work out. But i think, on the whole, GH has brought in more successes than 'lame ducks' so i think he deserves the benefit of the doubt on this one. (I await that Swiftcorn fella turning up any minute to call me a fekkwit) icon_wink.gif

The signing of a former NRL GF winner and Origin prop (for a position we are most definately short of cover on right now) will do for me right now. Perhaps all those slating the signing could suggest reasonable alternatives?

OK - I'm not slating this signing at all, I'm just not excited about it nor am I saying the GH hasn't brought success to Headingley because he has.

When we signed Lauitiiti I nearly sh*t myself with excitement – just can’t say I feel the same way with Cross.

IIRC many were not overwhelmed when we signed Kylie as he certainly wasn't a 'name' in the NRL but he's turned out to be more than decent. Let's hope the same is true of Ben.

From the handful of games I've seen Ben play on the TV I've certainly been more impressed than the couple of times I saw Kylie on the TV in the NRL when we were strongly linked with him

So do I, and whilst Eastwood going home is a fair old loss, I reckon we have enough young prospects to hope that we get at least a couple of outstanding players from amongst them.

Quote: BrisbaneRhino "I would have thought the problem - again - was Eastwood rather than Peacock's injury, which just highlighted the weakness of our pack, and coming so late in the season was impossible to do much about.

The whole Eastwood sage is that its stuffed us for several years in terms of recruitment. We got one year out of the guy, 2010. In 2009 we were one down on our potential pack for the whole season as we waited for him. In 2011 and 2012 we now have a forward who with the best will in the world would not have been top of anybody's shopping list, and is certainly not as good as a fit Eastwood. Whilst he may do well for us (and as per Delaney I hope so despite being underwhelmed by his signing), had Leeds sorted the Eastwood situation out earlier, they would have been able to move for a better forward from the NRL.'"

Absolutely spot on.

Regarding Ben Cross

Didn't we once sign a player from Newcastle called Marc Glanville?

Surely he was 31/32 when we signed him?

Would Glanville have been vilified by these self same posters back then before he had even laced his boots up?

Was he here to top up his pension?

How do posters that are old enough on here, and that actually know who Glanville is, rate his time at the club?

FWIW and IMO Glanville is one of the Rhino's finest ever overseas signings

Should we all possibly do the decent thing here and judge Cross when it really matters for us? next season!

So we cannot discuss it then? May as well shut the board down for the winter.

Danny i'm not condemning the discussion on here regarding Cross

I tried to allude to this by using a similary aged Aussie that arrived at our club, and at the back end of his career called Marc Glanville, who IMO proved to be a fantastic signing would you not agree?

Wouldn't you love a 32 year old Marc Glanville in next years squad?

I'm just being mischievous.

I don't have a problem with the signing of cross but I do agree with Keith about the double standards of our supporters.

Glanville, Furner were both exceptional, Millard less so icon_smile.gif

MG and Furner were both superb, consumate pros and technically excellent, I think both brought a bit of nous and know how to the pack too..

Glanville and Furner were awesome signings in the twighlight of their careers.
I think the point some have with Cross which is no fault of his is how he joins us i.e To replace a 22yr old international who in turn had replaced Ellis.
