No not really, on a day when another Fecktard has being arrested for urinating on a war memorial, I get annoyed with morons with no respect for others sacrifice.
I would put him in stocks in City Square, flog him and then pour the contents of a couple of Porta Loo`s over him.

Do you recognise the sacrifice of all the elderly soldiers in your area who sit at home alone for days on end. Who struggle to heat their homes, struggle to get by on a day to day basis?
Easy to be a campaigner for the dead. I wonder if you're being as passionate about it for the living.

Eh?
Tigertot's post was obviously a joke and meant in jest and nothing more than a few lines on a messageboard. No memorials were desicrated. No need to panic.
I think you need to take a deep breath and get a sense of perspective, that way you might care less about a dog's name being mentioned in a film.

A pal of mine, close pal, is 36. He has served in (In no particular order) The Gulf Part 1, Gulf Part 2,(Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Safe Haven first time round, Iraqi freedom second) The Balkans, (Several tours) Northern ireland , Several tours, Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, and I don't doubt for a second several other places he hasn't mentioned. I don't mind telling you he's a pathfinder.
We once fell out with a group of old boys who "served" their country during World War Two (Don't get me wrong, these guys were transport wallers not infantry, and we knew they had had it pretty easy). Why is my pals contribution any less meaningful?

The example I quoted about my dad is a similar one, he was 16 in 1939, joined the Home Guard (yes, he was the original Pike), then in 42 was shipped out to Nigeria and in 44 to Bombay then back to England in 44 with tb.
He fired a real gun once or twice in the home guard when they were practising at Cross Gates, his sister saw more action than he did driving ambulances on an east yorks airfield.
The photo with the black boy at his feet makes him look like a real war hero though.

It has just been on the national BBC news that a Leeds man has been arrested for urinating on a war memorial, the second this year, following the case in Sheffield.
You are wrong memorials have been desecrated.

In 20 years as a paramedic I spent plenty of time caring for the elderly, and am currently training for the Southampton Triathlon to raise funds for "Help for Heroes".
So yes I am passionate about supporting the living.

The first occurrence I can forgive as a young kid who was completely blathered and probably didn't even know that he wasn't still in the pub toilet - its every young persons job to make a right tit out of themselves by getting so drunk that they have no conscious stimulus anymore, for at least one night of their lives.
The second one in Headingley was a 47 year old and as the landlady of the Oak said on radio today, was probably a head who thought he'd have a go at deliberately causing outrage, I suspect that he won't be able to use the same excuse as the young lad did and may find himself living in a prison cell after his trial next week.

So caring for the elderly whilst employed as a paramedic, very philanthropic of you. Help for Heroes is an easy one in my book, no disrespect to them but it's a charity with massive column inches and a massive support network. Raising money for them is now getting quite easy and very much like another fund I can name but shan't, is now actually absorbing available charitable donation opportunities thus actually harming other charities that would otherwise benefit, a few years ago you would perhaps of been raising for St Gemma's Hospice ( Or Hants equivalent), or St Jame's (Or Hants equivalent), strange how peoples loyalties change with a bit of media.
But either way, no need for getting on your high horse about those who don't pander to your expectations of gratitude towards a generation that to be fair has done very little to make any impact on the youth of today other than to tell them they are "Thugs" "Scoundrels" and refuse to give them their ball back.
And before you ask, London 2010, Olivers Army.

Actually what I said was true. It's exactly as I was told a couple of weeks ago when my fried was regaling tales of his dad who had just died & who sounded like an incredibly interesting & intelligent man who, as an engineer, worked on some of the most innovative stuff going on during & after the war. The tale about them peeing on the grave is how he (my friend) recounted it. Whether it is true I guess we will never know.
