I’m sorry to say I won’t be appearing on stage that night due to personal reasons. However I might be in the audience if I get good news the day before in Sheffield.

I just want to thank Doc Rhino for this opportunity and giving others opportunities as well. If only Leeds had more of him then the Leeds music scene wouldn’t be as hard and mean as it rumoured to be.

There’s currently an interesting debate going on at ‘what if Leeds’ about music in Leeds -
BUT, but, but, this can only go so far; the city has never had the business infrastructure to grow a really significant music industry and this can't be done just by bloody minded Yorkshire grit.[/i

I can totally relate it to my ‘music career’.

People liked my Mcing at school, at house parties, on this forum and in the detention centres that hold the long term unemployed. I don’t have enough money for a record studio, so I did an album by mcing into my video camera and making that video into an audio file. I don’t make beats either, so I just dragged any old beat off of Youtube and mixed them both together.

When I told rlG this of ALPHADRIVErl he couldn’t believe the way I made my first album. However I was even more surprised when I found out that Alan Raw started his radio career interviewing through an old video camera for the BBC!

But yeah I did my album, went on BBC Raw Talent (not for my music ability..) and here I am right now. Not made a penny despite making the best out of what’s available to me. Had a chance to make some money out of this up coming Gig and I’ve blown it this time.

However it’d be a shame to throw it all away because of my circumstances at the moment.

All I can say is watch this space because I owe Doc Rhino one and I owe myself as well. I got this far by Yorkshire grit. God knows how far I could go with some proper infrastructure to help me earn a living from the music industry.

For now just enjoy some of my ‘career highlights’ so far!

Dependency for the Booze was inspired by McLaren_Field’s cliché for Jord Rhinos (Currently abbot out) out of control Alcohol habit. Ok this isn’t going to conquer the world but I had fun making it and the forum that it was made for enjoyed watching it.

Pulling MC is perhaps my most popular MC along with the one about been on the dole. It was inspired by Jay's bull storys on the inbetweeners.

Perhaps the best MC I’ve done because its been auto tuned. I acknowledge I don’t have the best of voices but I’ve never had any complaints when I’ve rapped to my ‘target audience’.


Finanally - all the best to the band from Long who are a million miles better than me. I had a look at their videos on youtube and I didn't feel that I deserved to be on the same stage of them in terms of polished quality!

The leeds music scene is not hard to be involved with , i started by helping @ open mics for a yr 8 years ago progressing to organising a regular saturday & since the primmi shut have used at least 5 venues on a low cost basis this autumn

there's a thriving hip hop scene

cancellations are the hardest thing to cover

hopefully can use the rhinos social in december still and maybe damo can be involved

People cancelling me out is what I need to work on and I suppose it comes with experience. I’ve been ‘cancelled’ out so much when applying for a job, I flipped the last two times (only verbally thank goodness). The last time I flipped out was a catalyst to realising that I can’t go around having a go at everyone whose wronged me.

Its not got me anywhere - nor has trying to conquer a job market like a headless chicken.
