1 year for McDonnell is interesting, I'd have been happy to see him sign for 2 years, but not a problem. Will be interesting to see what Bentley and the club do. I'd be offering Holroyd 2 years and Gannon 3 years.

In terms of a replacement for Frawley (who must be leaving) if we didn't sign anyone, our 4th choice halfback would probably be either Cam Smith (who I don't think is much of a field kicker, and lacks pace) or Fergus McCormack (who is completely untested at this level). That's a risk and why I think the might go for someone else. Perhaps the club also now see Jack as a future 9 rather than 7 in which case you can expect another decent quality half to be signed.

I like Croft. However, a club of Leeds' ambitions has certain expectations of a marquee half-back. 


Is Croft up there with the very best halves in the competition? While there have been glimpses and occasional game-breaking performances, let's be honest, he's just not doing it enough. He's no French or Lewis (at Leeds), not even close.


Is Croft up there with the best Leeds halves we've seen in recent decades? The answer is a firm 'no', but perhaps he still has time on his side, especially if the Arthur message keeps to bed in. Definitely behind the likes of Schofield, Harris, McGuire and Sinfield Snr. As good as Gale (factoring in Gale's kicking game)? Being better (at Leeds) than Sezer, Frawley, Sutcliffe, Austin etc isn't really the hallmark of the player we're looking for.


I would say if the price is right *and* a better player is available, we should move. These things are unlikely to happen though, and we're probably better off with him for now.

I kinda want to see Connor at left Centre next year.
Hall will surely be retiring to move into the non playing side of things.

Regarding McDonnell I bet one year is his choice.


I suspect a lot of players expect to lose BA and if leeds go cheap on an untested coach they want the ability to move on rather than waste another few years of a short career in mid lower table 

We have to be patient with Croft. He was our stand out player last season, behind a pack that got smashed almost every week. I really don't think any of the all time great players you have listed above would have made us a top six side. This year he was knocked out cold in game 2, and  looked very good paired with Connor in games where we beat Wigan and were beating Wire 14 -6 when he left the field. In short he's been unlucky. I think, in a settled spine, behind the pack we've now assembled he'll go really well. Think we should stick with him and Connor as halves and let them build an understanding. We don't want to start another year with yet another pair of new half backs struggling to gell. 

Good to see Stevie Ward unretiring

Not sure Connor has the pace to play centre unlike our Aussie recruit who is currently injured who does have pace to burn.
Again doubt he will be here next year though.
I wouldn`t be surprised to see Watkins do another year where I would like to see him play LF.
Personally would settle for Croft or an upgrade if he leaves and Connor and it looks like Sinfield could be our covering hooker, again not sure he has the stamina to make 30 plus tackles in a game though.
A new hooker to replace Ackers and a new prop like you`ve mentioned.

Connor is a game changer, he needs the ball in his hands as much as possible, he would be wasted playing centre. 

Another decent signing by KR getting Amone for next season.
He is the sort of player we should be pushing for imo.
