Wouldn't be the only one by the sound of it.
I know someone who went up to do the Great Edinburgh Run and was less than impressed to find a lot of the city centre bars full of absolutely blathered rugby league fans singing at the top of their voices.
Some people need to consider carefully what they are representing at events like this.

It does yes. It says that you are touchy about your view that all you can think of about the weekend is the locals were nice and you had some greeeeeeaaaat food.
Why did you bother going?

I agree, although I saw not one hint of trouble.

Me neither. The only "problem", if it could be called that, was the group of Bradford fans singing songs about hating gays, the IRA and Leeds scum.
Saying that, the fact a load of people got a bit drunk and had a bit of a sing-song is hardly news, is it? If certain sections of society had done it it would have been seen as boisterous and creating a carnival atmosphere. If it had been football fans it would have been the nearest thing to WWIII.

defo slow day for ya then!
im not touchy perp im happy to answer you as long as you have questions! and its not all i thought about the weekend? just a few things!! at the meals we had great food and a great laugh!! and it was really heart warming to have a good old chat with some people we met along the way some local some not. to have a awesome time with friends and family on a mini holiday was worth it alone. we had such a good time we are all rebooked and cant wait till next year.
a few other reasons i bothered going was because it was my mates birthday weekend and i love the rhinos and i love my rugby league.
i also enjoyed eating out at the world cup!! i would imagine you would also need to ask why i bothered going there too?

| The best food we found was from a small scottish restaraunt called 'McDonalds'.

I'd say that's a problem in terms of the image of the game in general. The general public who witnessed that will associate homophobia, sectarianism and foul language with rugby league and its fans, which is something the RFL can do without if it is wanting to build goodwill and a following for the game north of the border.
Like I say, nothing against people getting pished and having a good time but fans are ambassadors for the game and their clubs in a much more visible way than players are at events like this. A little engaging brain before opening mouth goes a long way in creating a positive image for the game.

You're right, I should have said trouble, rather than problem, as I was thinking about physical violence, rather than creating a bad impression.
As for people getting "tired and emotional", it can create a positive image for the game. We had a couple of occasions when doorstaff were complementing the league fraternity on their ability to keep their own order, not get involved in fights, but still attempt to drink the place dry.
A fine balancing act I grant you, but one that can be achieved.

.'" And thats one thing most Rugby fans seem very good at, we can have fun and enjoy the banter but it all remains friendly which I think paints the sport in a very good light.
