I think in some small part Leeds have to be thanked because they ticked our chairmen off big style with the Briscoe affair (Leeds did nothing wrong btw - but we know the alleged story) and he is putting his money where his mouth is to try and knock Leeds off the top of the tree.
It wont be next year but at last we are a club spending money where it counts, I did read early in this forum about Leeds/Wigan youth setups and who is best ect ect and yes your both a benchmark we hope to follow.'"
It doesn't matter how much money he has, he is only allowed to spend to the maximum. I smell a Rat tbh.

You would, because you're a partisan fan of one of their rival teams.
The squad Hull have put together next year is easily capable under the current salary cap.

We've had a couple of likely big earners leave to make space, some of those coming in will probably be cheaper than those they are replacing. We've replaced McKinnon, Sharp, Manu, O'Carroll, Moa, Turner, and Aspinwall with McDonnell, Crookes, Ellis, Watts, Johnson, Arundel, and Galea. Martin has also gone and we've brought in Holdsworth. If we get Prince he'd be the only real additional player on last season.

| Salary cap is audited 'live' these days is it not?
I suspect if Hull's squad looks better for next year (and I think it does) then it is more likely to be due to a more efficient and effective use of money, rather than actually spending more.
Hull fans - is therre a matching investment in the academy? I think some previous Hull administrations have been a little guilty of short term-ism with their spending in the last decade or so. I'd like to see that change. I love Hull for being an RL city, and I think the sport benefits form one or both clubs really delivering what they're capable of.

| Given the stories i've read about the state of the youth set-up at Hull under previous owners then at the moment Pearson has to go down the route of bringing experienced players in. What would be great to see as a RL fan is if they can get a competitive team together with a large core of Academy players in it but they might have to wait 3-5 years for that to pay off.

Cannot see the problem myself. Yes there has been plenty signed but also a fair few going, to make room.

Think if we sign Prince, they'll be some further adjustments, probably with Seymour leaving.
Things are looking good at Hull, the best in a long time. A good Coach, a stronger squad, strong season ticket sales and investment in the youth set up.

| Massive investment in our youth setup is ongoing, opened last year a brand new Academy training reported costing around 250k, currently in negotiations with Bishop Burton College who have fantastic sports facilities to use them also.
Peter Gentle has just come out this week and said that they are setting up a halfback school because of the lack of halfbacks in the game he said he wants to bring intelligent players through into the game not just players with brawn that we seem to just want.
So yes Hull are investing in the youth setup and have come out and said were really lacking in this area but we hope to follow in Leeds/Wigan's footsteps and have our own home grown players making up most of our team in the future.

Good to hear it. Where's the Academy training centre? They were using the club near the cemetary last year weren't they?

It's 'Sirius Academy' which is state of the art, and the first team currently train at YPI which is next to the cemetary.
