This week: Four keys to a Rhinos win in the WCC:Transparent Backgrounds/Waldorf.gif |

| Both were "against the odds" victories where Leeds went into the GF as arguably the underdogs, and for that reason are probably a bit more special than the 2007-09 wins.
Nothing will top 2004 though.

I think 2007 runs it close though

| Loved everyone of them 04 was so so special after waiting so long and the loss against the Dulls at HQ a fortnight before.
07 for was the best Team Performance in that we absolutely destroyed ST's with some of the best RL i've seen us play.
Like AG says aswell 11 and 12 were special because we were supposed to be finished and underdogs throughout the play-offs.
3-in-a-row ,Back to back from 5th ,Burrow becoming the 1st Harry Sunderland winner with a clean sweep of the votes ,so many homegrown players in the team ,Lee Smith playing in 3 different positions etc etc the list goes on some wonderful memories to cherish after years of big money failures!

| 2010.
2011 wasn't a bad one though, I was there with my Saints supporting housemate, he was quite grumpy on the train back.

| 2011 I thought we'd win to be honest. I didn't give us much of a prayer at Wire the week before, but when we won that I thought we'd finish the job. It was a great match though.
2004 was a great occasion for Leeds fans. It was when the under-achieving stopped. But the match itself was scrappy and tense.
2009 had some good moments, but we were favourites and again, it wasn't actually the best match.
2007 was probably our best Old Trafford performance, and right up there (IMVBO) with the best Grand Final performances of the SL era (with Bulls 2003 and Saints 2006). Again though, after the play-off defeat at Knowsley Road, I came away thinking we'd beat them on neutral ground. The margin of victory was a shock.
2008 was just a super game, nad I was caught up in the received script that Saints had let it slip through their fingersw the year before and were going to exact revenge, having been much more comfortable against us in the play-off game at KR. It was the only one I'd really completely written us off for. So that was probably my favourite.

| 2004 meant so much.
2007 was the best Leeds performance.
The best game was either 2011 or 2012. It's hard to separate but I'll go 2011.

| 2004 without a doubt the most special - I was gobsmacked for a few minutes afterwards.
2008 was an amazing triumph. Blitzed against Saints at Knowsley Road two weeks before hand, we had absolutely no chance going into the GF. This bunch has really really shown some truly unbelievable strength of character over the years but if one bit of character strength had to be top of the list it would of be this.
2011 and 2012 were just a big two fingers to the 'experts' that had managed to forget our previous character and strength.
Best overall display, 2007.

2010?Well I firmly believe that Leeds were probably if not for the season long injury list at their peak and would have won SL that year too and it would now be 6 in a row.

The 2008 Saints hype was over the top. They should have been favourites, they were in better form, had gone on a long unbeaten run and beat Leeds well in the semi, however, Leeds led the table for much of the year and only lost the top spot to Saints in the last quarter of the season as I remember. Leeds (the Champions) were completely dismissed, it was rediculous.
In 2007 Leeds missed out on finishing top when Rob Burrow missed a last second penalty kick that would have won the game at Wigan, yet Saints were firm favourites then also.
The boards back then were all about Saints being the real champions, 2007 was a fluke, etc, etc, etc.
Leeds crushed Saints in 2008. It was a complete performance and the 8 point margin didn't reflect the way Leeds dominated that game from the minute after James Graham scored (when Saints players seemed to think the match was over).
2009 I never doubted Leeds would win, same last year - I knew they would beat Warrington. 2011 I wasn't so sure but was pretty confident. 2004 and 2007 I was pooping myself.

That was 2008.
I agree with the rest of your post, and all the seasons when saints finished top leeds were very close behind by 1 or 2 points, it certainly wasn't the landslide people made it out to be.

They did the back-to-back-to-back finals as a box set (which I have). The rest I just bought separately. They are a collection in the sense that they are collected in a small pile in the cupboard where I keep my DVDs.
