| I would agree with pretty much everything you say.
I have no doubt the Sinfield will be finishing his career in the halves now though with the occasional cameo at hooker.his back row days are over

| Quote: Charentrhino "JP will be playing his last year - he has confirmed that.
Cuthbertson - has signed a 4 year contract.
Singleton - long term future. Should be at Leeds for years to come.
Yates - untested so far BUT has to be given chances next season.
Baldwinson - Like Brad, he has got to be the future.
That's 5 plus we have Mulhern & can always use the likes of JJB & Delaney as stop gaps .Achurch is also big enough to play up front if need be !
Time has come to release Bailey, Kirke & Leulai (he has played better this year than the last 2 but he will no doubt fade like he has done towards the latter stages of previous seasons).
For years,we have held on to too many players (missing out on the likes of Amor who should be at Headingley now & for some time to come !).
We have plenty of options in the back row...................especially if Sir Kevin moves back into the pack.
Releasing the above plus Danny would allow us to bring in our talented youngsters !'"
Oh shut up just another post as an excuse to slag of Kirke bailey etr, and wine about Kyle amor. When amor did play at Leeds he was that's why we shipped him out, yes he's come good now but it's took him 5 years to as good as anything we already have.
This is the greatest period in the clubs history and people moan like where Hull or something

| I agree that we are having a great run, but I want us to continue that into the next few years. My thread is entitled props for 2015...............all the players that I suggest we off load are well into their 30's & IMO need replacing before next season.
We are supposed to have plenty of talented youngsters - how are they going to get a chance if we retain players that are over their 'use by date' ?

| If we released Bailey, Kirke & Leuluai and went with JP, Cuthbertson, Singleton, Yates & Baldwinson I feel we'd be exposed in the front row at some point during the season.
There would be the inevitable calls for JP to be rotated and if Cuthbertson or Singleton picked up an injury we'd be in the poop.
I'd go with JP, Cuthbertson, Singleton & Bailey as front line props with Yates, Baldwinson & Mulhern being given as much game time as possible based on injuries, rotation and their form when given a chance.

What has Bailey done never mind this year but in the last two years to warrant a place as a front line prop? Get shot of Bailey and get a prop on a two year deal with option on extension, possible example Manakafoa from the Bulls when they are relegated. This will allow time for the likes of Baldwinson, Mulhern and Yates to mature whilst offering a better option than Bailey. Bailey is currently a passenger in the squad and when Yates is fit should not make the 19 never mind the 17.

What can Manakafoa offer that we won't get from Baldwinson and possibly Mulhern? He's not very good. Would much rather have Kylie for another year than go there.
Yates is completely unproven, not a very good player, and one who I still don't think will ever make a Rhinos side. So have no idea why you say once he is fit, Bailey should be out. Bailey has his faults, and for me can leave also, but if you are going to put poop in his place, then we might aswell stay with the devil we know.

| Leuluai - has been as good this year as he's ever been. Wants a new deal, can have one.
Peacock - one more year
Singleton
Cuthbertson
Bailey
Mulhern
Yates
Release Kirke (34 at season end), send Baldwinson & Tonks on loan somewhere in SL (if they can get a gig), if not keep them in & rotate them through.

Kirke was given a fair opportunity, with big minutes to be fair, through a large chunk of the middle part of last season to show he could step up as a front line prop when Kylie and JP were in the treatment room and he failed to step up, being outshone by rookie Singleton.I feel we would be no less 'in the poop' with him as the cornerstone of the pack for any decent period of time.
Obviously it would be foolish to release Kylie,Bailey and Kirke all at once and i dont think for one minute that will happen.

Given that he's getting half a season at Bradford (as well as the experience in NZ) I'd opt for Baldwinson to stay and get some games here (expect him to do a few minutes in the back row next year also). Mulhern should be the one we try to loan out if the right club is available to give him a spot.

| Replacing Peacock is virtually impossible. Be interesting to see how Leeds run without him in time to come. JP is immense and you probably wont appreciate what he does week in week out until you don't have that week in week out.

1. I only offered up Manakafoa as an example, however you could replace that with Scruton, D. Smith etc it is a viable shorterm option, however
2. Did you watch the Bulls play the Catalans? If you did then you would have seen that Manakafoa offered far more go forward than Baldwinson agaginst a solid pack
3. Yates is poop yet you have not seen him play in a Leeds shirt yet
4. Bailey's poop but lets keep him because he's poop that we know. real solid argument.
Having watched Bailey for 10 years I'd rather get rid and have a kid in the squad than see him steal a wage for another year.

| I maybe in the minority, however, I'm not sure I'd be fully onboard with Kylie signing for 2015. I love what he has brought and this year he has been immense - so much so that to replace him and JP after 2015 would be doubly difficult.
Running next year with:
JP
Singleton
Cuthbertson
Kirke/Bailey (I'd probably retain one of them)
Baldwinson
Mulhern
Yates
would look OK to me. By the end of next year whether we need to sign another frontline prop or whether Cuthbertson can lead the pack and the others have kicked on enough should be clearer.
I've supported Bailey over the years and always thought his defence and ability to land on his front and play the ball quickly were key attributes. His level of play has dropped recently though and it's impossible to ignore the off field rumours.
Kirke on the other hand offers similar qualities (never as much potential but has their output recently been very different) with few of the downsides. He seems to be a popular and reliable member of the squad. Go on, I'll say it I actually like him - he's made the best of far less ability than many forwards we've seen at Leeds.
In reference to his low carries I'll throw this out there. If he plays 30 minutes and we have 12 sets in that time how many carries is he likely to get. 5 per set; at least 2 usually taken by backs, sometimes more. Split the maximum of 36 forward carries (and this is probably high) between the 2 props and 3 back rowers on the field (about 7 each). Is 4 too low - yes. Is he overly lazy? No, I'm not sure he is. JP is a freak and Kylie is hungry for the ball in his relatively short stints. Is Kirke expected to play the same role and should we expect him to?
I'm not saying he'd be in my 17 each week but I'm perfectly happy with him around the squad. I don't think he is blocking anyone's progress right now. I love the way SInglton has been progressed over the last 2 years and not just thrown in, and I think we are seeing the benefits of that now. If Baldwinson and/or Mulhern can follow similar paths that would be great.

| Andy, don't look at Kirke's carries as a maths equation. Focus on him whilst he's on the pitch. Watch his movement. He's actually a genius at avoiding the ball. I think if you watch him closely you'll change your view on him.
Nobody who ever sets foot on a rugby pitch is a coward but there are degrees of bottle that players possess.
