| I sincerely hope this is an unfounded rumour if true it would be disaster for the super league. Makes you wonder how many other clubs are struggling .
Looks like we are ok thanks to uncle garry and Paul Caddick.

| Super League franchising by plenty.
Oh...sorry... it's got nothing to do with franchising has it? It's just a badly run club like erm... Bradford.
If only Salford could take advantage of their secured franchise and focus on growth without fear of relegation, everything would be A-OK.

| It's probably a miracle that Salford have lasted this long given whose shadow they live in. Hope a way can/will be found for them to survive, it's a club with a long proud unbroken history ...... unlike some.

You mean that sooper dooper soulless new stadium in which Salford can't afford to pay the lease on?
The one that will be taken over by the stronger tenants Sale Sharks in due course who can afford to pay for the lease?
You mean that one?
Riiiiiiight.

It'll all be pretty pointless if the league is reduced once again to a handful of full time professional clubs and the rest following many league points behind - some would argue that its already like that.
Professional rugby league is dying on its , its just a very long, slow painful death.

See this is what I dislike about some rugby league fans, especially the 'anti-franchising' brigade....they immediately look to jump on the misfortune of clubs like Bradford / Salford as an opportunity to argue for bringing back promotion and relegation and scrapping franchising.
I understand there's arguments for promotion and relegation but Bradford and Salford haven't gone bust, because they weren't under threat of relegation. In football, being relegated didn't save Leeds from financial troubles....neither did it save Bradford City or Portsmouth etc.
Fair enough if William Eve was just making an observation here rather than trying to start a promotion and relegation campaign, the usual culprits for this are Leigh fans on the VT who will jump on any misfortune of other clubs to start lobbying for their case.
It reminds me of the Daily Mail brigade that will jump on any crime or social disorder to say "this is because people get paid too much in benefits..."

| Is this the same rumour that Salford themselves came out and rubbished a couple of weeks ago?

| Of course its the same rumour (I see no source quoted at all), but it helps fuel Bill's nonsense. Never mind we're in the middle of the GFC, its all down to franchising that teams are struggling.
Salford's ground may be soulless, but its a new ground for the future - unlike the Willows. If they're stuggling to pay bills on a new stadium, I imagine they'd be just as badly off with constant repairs and maintenance work on the old one. Personally I liked the Willows - 30 years ago when it seemed quaint, not decrepit.

| I wouldnt say we was even close to going bankrupt. In regards to rent for the stadium its going to be cut in half since sale are moving in.

Correct.
The only "debt" we have is to Wilky and the other directors. That is never going to be something that gets called in or pushes the club to bankruptcy. We are pretty much skint at the minute, but that's different to being in the sh*t.

From what I can gather about Sale's finances they are not terribly likely to be all that much stronger. I think they're moving in because they're as keen to save costs as Salford are.
