It has to be said, given the situations with other players, this was a touch predictable. The concern I would have had all along is that, even if the charges of assault etc are shaky, the charges of lying to police might well be enough to terminally derail the visa process. He could easily end up not making it over here this season now. If that happens, and he is not guilty of the serious charges, it's pretty likely that he would just sign with an Aussie club for 2010.

SL is on the decline for now on in with players like Carney, Bird and Croker been refused visa’s. People will stop watching the game over here for that alone. No longer are we a league where anyone can join - a working class league that is full of forgiveness and sorrow.
We are a snobby league that only accepts those who manage to keep a clean slate from childbirth to SL. This of course doesn’t apply to certain British players. But things have now changed for the worse.
