The SL clubs have confirmed the rule changes that will be implemented in 2019.
A shot clock of 35 seconds will be brought in for scrums and drop outs.
Golden point will be introduced, and the number of interchanges will be reduced to 8 from 10.
Also, the 2 ref system will be trialled in the U19s comp in 2019, with the intention to introduce it into SL in 2020.
They're all positive moves IMO.

| Hate the stupid golden point, and wish they would have brought the two ref in now.

| Not fan of golden point whatsoever. And if 2 refs merely results in twice as many pens I'll not be a fan of that either (yes, I know it doesn't in aus but I wouldn't rule it out with some of the clowns we endure)

| I’m happy about the rule changes but what disappoints me is there is now four sets of rules in rugby league. Super league, other UK clubs, NRL and International rules. I really don’t understand why they can’t all sit together and get on the same piece of paper.
I am not sure there is another sport like this.

Completely agree. There should just be the rules, with slight variations for amateur games

| I think the two ref trial is ok for 2020. We don't have enough decent refs for this year. It's gives us a year to build the team of officials

| Personally like the golden point though would have gone with golden try instead. Would also have liked to see anyone who is injured have to miss the next set of 6

| Not sure how shot clock will work for drop outs if it doesn't apply if their is an injury. The only reason drop outs take so long is cos a player goes down injured every time.
We then will have to wait while the "injured" player hobbles off which will give the team time to fetch the card they need for him to run on.
It could take Chris Hill a couple of mins with his cramp fits he gets every time a drop out is awarded.
It's an issue that needed addressing tho so fair play for that.

I wondered about that too. I'd have a rule where any stoppage for an injured player requires them to leave the field for 2 sets at least.

| Imo any player who appears "injured" at a drop out should be treated in the in goal area (unless serious) & the game to carry on. We'd soon see who was really hurt & who wasnt.
WRT golden point its a farce & should only be used for knock out games.

| I'm not sure why the game is always stopped for injury nowadays regardless of the position of the injured player on the field. Surely common sense should allow the game to continue if at all possible.

| The thing is, with the head trauma issues etc players and coaches are able to milk the system sometimes. Theres been times a player has gone off for a head test when its obvious to everyone its nothing to do with that. That's just abusing the system put in to protect players.
Rugby league needs to flow, its why we brought the rules in we did, when we did. I agree that if the player is out of the way of the ball play shouldn't stop, harsh but fair and as long as this is applied uniformly then I would have no truck with it.

From what I read (or at least my interpretation) was that any ‘injured’ player at a drop out will either have to be substituted or if not, has to leave the field and cannot come back on until the next stoppage in play (scrum, drop out, try etc)

I agree, it would stop the time wasters instantly. Any player genuinely injured could be substituted and the team would then still have 13 players on the field.
