| What a performance this evening against all odds.
Fantastic stuff.
Phew.
I was starting to believe that SL playing standards were poor.
Thank goodness that theory has been laid to rest.

A theory is an unproven notion, albeit one supported by a relatively solid mathematical model or other form of justification. Not a word I would use as far as the relative merits of AP are concerned; however, he is relatively amusing on occasions and just needs to be mainly ignored.

| Without Silverwood stepping up in the second half Leeds lose that match - Leeds' MOM.
At least Eddie Hemmings enjoyed it.

| I rate that as amongst the top 10 worst Leeds games I've ever seen and I've been watching for over 50 years!!
All the games I have seen this year have been utter garbage. Standards as low as I can remember since the mid 80's.

William you logged on with your other account by mistake. Nice to see that after you both disappeared around the same time last year you both reappeared at the same time this year

Silverwood was Leeds best player in the 1st half against the Cowboys the other week too. The popular theory among some here is that Leeds have no chance when he's the referee. When faced with evidence pointing to the contrary, it is ruled as irrelevant, misleading and inadmissible by the very same people.

Super League is of such a playing standard these days that teams like Leeds can be utter gash (as they were on Friday against Hudds) and still win. If ever a game provided evidence of a Super League competition which goes beyond rewarding mediocrity, that was it.
There are those of course who will deny the blatantly obvious whilst claiming the current Leeds team is a mere couple of unfortunate injuries away from being able to compete and beat say... a fully fit Cowboys team, as opposed to one in pre-season mode.
If such arguments fail, there's always the November floods or SPOTY to hang one's coat on.

| From my point of view this is truly depressing and not a reason to smirk or gloat. I'm just hopeful that drier weather, the return of fully fit players to all the top SL sides and perhaps some more innovative tactics over and above sterile defence and over structured staccato attack may give me something worth watching - yes even if it's not Leeds - because what I've seen so far this year simply isn't.
I don't care if we are not as 'good' as the NRL right now. There may be all sorts of reasons why this is the case if indeed it always is the case. But I do care that SL at the moment is borderline unwatchable

NRL teams arent in preseason mode at the time of the WCC with the season only a few weeks away.
Your just as likely to see a team put in their best performance in round 1 (as the Rabbitos did last year) as round 26, as unlike superleague, teams aim to be 100% at the start instead of building into the season
So its a little bit like you dont know what your talking about???
Not much of a relevant point to how we played but one that probably should be stated when discussing early round SL standards

I don't have 50 years. Just the 30 give or take.
I totally agree. Utter garbage.

I have 30 odd years watching live games too, just watched it back for the first time on TV and TBH didn't look quite as bad on the small screen.
I don't think we are too far away from some decent performances. We need direction on the pitch and not having a good dummy half on the field is causing a lack of direction and space for the "play maker" to work in. Also we are a little weak having Burrow and Lilly on the pitch at the same time, 2nd rowers are having to work too hard covering their weaknesses. These are all things I believe we can sort out with a couple of small changes and able bodies back on the pitch. I hope the treatment room is working well because we need them back ASAP

| Since 1978 for me...and not seen anything yet this season to compel me to watch any games live. Fingers crossed things will improve.
As has been said already can't believe Leeds have been caught with their pants down again with inadequate cover at hooker.
...and by hooker I mean somebody who can bloody defend up the middle

I'm sure the recent trophy hauls have helped enormously in keeping the depression at bay, even if it is patently obvious that the haul is due to the rest of the SL competition being dreadful. I can think of worse though. Having to watch St Helens for instance. That's about as turgid and depressing as it gets.

Trust me, it's been the case for as long as I can remember. I care because I'd like to pay to watch world class players playing top class RL somewhere fairly close to home soil. It's been a very long time since we've been afforded such luxury. The 1980's were domestically poor but at least we got to see some star quality players at clubs alongside a healthier international game.

Thanks for the advice
In future, I'll make sure I target pre-season NRL friendlies and NRL Round 1 instead of their play-off fixtures and Grand Final later on in the season because their playing standards will have dropped sharply by that stage.
