| Just confirmed by Leeds, seems that might be a career ender for the 33 year old.

| I think we might see him next season unless he decides he needs to quit

| And Aiton ruled out for 16 weeks so his Leeds career is over and no chance he could make a return for the playoffs.

| So back early may 2015, in theory it shouldnt be career ending but his recovery time may not be as short as this given his age. I dont think many would be surprised to see him call it a day

| Shame for the guy! Hope he gets to go out on his terms next year, but time will tell.
I think he will have been earmarked for a big role next year in terms of his leadership within the group with the losses of Sir Kev and JP etc. It will be pretty hard to have a major influence over the group now if he is in one on one rehab for the best part of the next year!

| A week is a long time in politics...AND in Super League too it seems
So from an urgent need for maybe just a commanding half back we now need a hooker; still the half back and a second rower to add to the list.
This must mean a sad end to JJB's career i suspect

| The club should be speaking with him immediately to agree a release on his contract. You can not be messing about with a salary capped sport. Having missed most of last season, most of this, and now most of next, you have to make the right decisions away from loyalty, as you can only have so many players in the squad. Replace him with Harrison Hansen before that one gets away.

| This is a tough one.Nobody would deny that JJB is a strong charchter and if he decides he wants to carry on I'm sure he will go into this with the determination to get back to his best at some point next season and this is doable so we shouldn't write him off just yet.
That said,If he decides enough is enough then i could understand.Either way, i think he has earned the backing of the club on whatever he chooses after dedicating his whole career to us, and if he decides to carry on i wouldn't back agsinst seeing him in a Leeds shirt again next spring.Good luck Jamie

Think is this doable with he club still being kind. Can always offer him a non-playing job with the club that keeps him earning, frees up our playing cap and keeps a good man involved with our club.
I think however he's probably the only person maybe Peacock too) who is driven, determined and mentally strong enough to push himself through another rehab at his age. Those are the only two I think are mentally tough enough to keep coming back.

If were looking at Salford backrowers Patterson would be a better shout.

| I can see a role for him long term within Leeds Rugby Foundation, dealing with the community stuff. Maybe pay his contract to the end of this season.

| I don't care if he causes a cap issue. He's earned the right to decide if he wants to play on. For Leeds.

No he hasn't. That's a stupid way to run a salary capped sports team. Even if it was Sinfield that would be the same, and he is nowhere in that league.
What he might have earned is for the club to look after him, and give him a future in something else at the club, that is not an argument. Not playing with a consistent injury record.

Agree with the second paragraph but you cannot defy the body no matter how mentally strong you are.
Perhaps he will need to modify his playing style if he wants any further career longevity. It is important to keep his experience and will to win attitude within the squad somehow
