Leeds Rhinos have been dealt a blow with news that hooker Paul Aiton will miss the next three months whilst undergoing a course of prescribed medication to treat the medical condition which has side lined him for the past two weeks.
Chief Executive Gary Hetherington commented, "Paul is desperately disappointed because he feels fit and healthy but after tests and consultation with a specialist he has been advised that he needs a course of medication. He will not be able to play whilst taking this medication until he has made a full recovery. This process is expected to be about 12 weeks, but he will be monitored on a monthly basis."
Paul Aiton added, "I'm so enjoying being part of the Rhinos team and really disappointed I will be out for so long. But, I'll do all I have to and be back raring to go."
Head Coach Brian McDermott said, "Paul had settled in really well, so to be losing him and Jamie Jones-Buchanan for the next three months is a blow, but at least they'll both come back at a crucial time of the season pretty fresh and fit."

Looks like Sir Kev will be doing a couple of spells at 9, bringing Sutty back should give us the cover at half back...

I'd suggest a reasonable guess would be that the medication involved is a proscribed substance preventing the player from being employed in his usual on field capacity.

Quite agree - The guy clearly has a fairly major clinical issue that's being treated and he deserves his privacy .

| Really disappointing for Paul, he's really settled in well, and brought another edge to us, but this is how it goes nothing we can do about it.
I'd like to see ward from the 19s given ago, but like its already been mentioned, burrow will start at 9 and Sutty on the bench, and when brought on, Kev will move to 9 IMO

| Bitter blow is that, fairly huge I'd say.
We want to be much better than last season and with Aiton that was huge step towards that.

Not really. There are plenty of medecines required to treat legitmate illnesses that are on the proscribed anti-doping list. If Aiton needs to take one of those for a while, and consequently can't play, then despite Billy's predictable insinuations everyone is behaving correctly.

| Disappointing news but if it is for no longer than 3 months at least he'll be back and good to go for the business end of the season.
Wouldn't mind seeing Robbie Ward get a bench spot in one or two games, obviously depends on the opposition. Maybe this week as he'll stand a chance of minutes against one of the lower teams.

Or he could have something such as shingles which requires a three month dosage to clear and people with it are advised to to play contact sport as it can be passed by contact.
