| Just watched the Fartown game and I cannot believe the quality or lack of it from the refs. St Helens got every call going today, sending off 50/50 call. But then the drop goal it was clear on TV it was a drop, if the ref had doubt he goes to the square in the air. He did not and Fartown robbed or you could say cheated, the question is what will the RFL do!!!
But this is not the occasion strange things have happened, two weeks ago the incident at the wakefield game, with the alleged influence of the directors of refs, encouraging the ref to penalise Trinity. Last week every call went to ST Helens again, a vital try scored when many refs would have chalked it off for interference. Guess who was the video ref !!
It is time the RFL acted for the good of the game, every ref has bad days but it seems strange at the moment they all benefit St Helens. Who is in charge of refs. Mr Ganson who is know throughout the game as a St Helens support.
Please will something be done for the good of the game

| Nail on the head here mate. I heard that at the start of the season Ganson rounded up the refs n told them to make sure Saints get all the decisions there way because he loves Saints.

| Ferres did not deserve to be sent off?
What a stupid comment.
He fully deserved the red card, well done Bentham for having the bottle to do it.
Ferres should get 4/5 games for that.

| Drop goal was wrong, but ferres had to go that was a nasty one, he had every opportunity to just drop the player or just dump him on the floor in a safe way, deliberately pile driver'd him. I just hope the refs are consistent with this and not cop out on report, think you are right about everything else though, Bentham marched St. Helens back into a game they where all set to lose.

Exactly, I'm sure a few of the other refs would've gone for 'On Report'......he'd have then got slated had he done that.

| All season refs have been putting similar incidents on report, the question is why did he send him off today and will every ref do that now.

What about the 'knock on' in the build up to the Penalty try/no try when it got chalked off in the Saints/Leeds game. St Helens don't get all the decisions, need to take the rose tinted off for a wee while.
Should be a cracking game at the end of the month with Leeds having a nice run of games before then & Saints having a few banana skins.

| I didn't see much wrong with the reffing in that game.
I thought Huddersfield were holding down and interfering at nearly every play the ball in a desperate attempt to slow Saints down. They were rightly penalised in my opinion.
The sending off was spot on. Whilst I don't believe any player deliberately tries to dump another player on their head, Ferres had no excuse for that tackle. I still have no idea what he was actually trying to do. But it was incredibly dangerous and deserves a straight red and a few games ban.
The drop goal was a 50/50 decision in my opinion. From one camera angle it looked like it might have sneaked in, from another it looked like it went wide.
Whilst some people have said he should have gone to the VR I don't see how, given the 2 camera angles, it would have helped much.
I'm also not sure where Dave Woods has got it from that if the ball goes directly over the post that it's a goal. I'd always been taught that in that case it would be deemed a miss.
The only reference I can find in the RFL rules is that it states the posts are deemed to continue upwards indefinitely, which would also surely deem it as a miss.
Either way, it's nowhere close to an injustice to Huddersfield. They didn't lose because of Phil Bentham. They lost because of their attempts to slow the play the ball, Brett Ferres and Danny Brough's inability to kick a drop goal.

| I've seen the Ganson half time thing mentioned a couple of times now, IT IS STANDARD PROCEDURE, it happens all the time. Ref's have coaches, just like the players.

50/50 call on Ferres? Don't be stupid, it was a clear red card, and Huddersfield got a lot of calls.
I will give you though, the penalty leading up to the Ferres card, the one where Walsh hit out at McGilvery and somehow got a penalty, was ridiculous. And the drop goal was a goal.

"Huddersfield got a lot of calls" - would you care to enlighten us regarding this statement as you have identified two cases where we clearly didn't at crucial times??????
