The attacking limitations of this England backline have once again been exposed, just as the Italians did last week. If they can't kick goals they struggle to score.

The MOM made 4 carries for 35 metres and 8 tackles.....maybe a code switch for Ian Kirke is in order?

(I know there's more to it than that before anyone points it out!)

As it was against a team who ended up winning the comp, I'd say no.

The 6N is flawed anyway. Home advantage for England, France, Ireland and Wales means a hell of a lot.

That's very true. I felt like the game was lost before it even kicked off for England. That atmosphere sounded immense, and the Welsh rose to it.

Wales have half a dozen players who would go very well in League, not that there's a hope of us taking advantage of that any time soon.

On the plus side, lovely to see Andy Farrell and John Inverdale so miserable.

The innability to score tries has been an obvious issue since day 1 of the competition. England should have had a hatful against a truly hopeless Scottish side at Twickenham and they only managed one flukey one against France (which should have been dissalowed for offside) and none against Italy, Ireland and now Wales. The backline isn't creative enough, Barritt can't pass, Ashton is so out of form it's almost comical, Goode is not an international fullback etc...etc...etc. Clive Woodward picked a much better backline last week after the Italy game.

England have choked, Wales coming into this competition had lost 6 or 7 games in a row, were mullered by Ireland and squeezed through the rest of their games against the poorest French and Scottish teams I've seen in a long time (and Ireland are hopeless as well).

Personally I don't think home advantage matters too much. If you're England you have either France and Scotland away or Ireland and Wales away. I couldn't say which was easier or more difficult.

Yeah that backline needs looking at. Barritt, Goode and Ashton aren't good enough.

The Welsh backline was light years ahead in comparison. Jonathan Davies is a terrific player, and I'd love to see him on a field with 4 less players!

Last week after the Italy game Clive Woodward picked his backs, Twelvetrees for Barritt, would have shifted Brown to 15 (where he belongs) and had Jonny May from Gloucester come in on the wing (he's big and he's rediculously quick). Woodward left Ashton in as he quite rightly didn't want to change the entire back three - although with hindsight he might have wanted to rethink that.

I don't watch enough club union to know about Johnny May. Brown looks useful, and id like to see him given a run at full back. He seems wasted out of position on the wing.

I always thought Ashton's initial success was down to his unusual support play. It seemed quite new to everybody. But as soon as teams worked it out, and the trys dried up, he seemed to lose his confidence. Now, he's starting to look a bit of a liability.

TBF I havent watched a second of it this year. I didnt even realise the England/Wales game was today. I was just commenting on home advantage being key in years gone by when a decider has been played.

On another note too, who likes to see their national teamlose at anything? Im not pro Union, Im not anti union. I played it for years at school and enjoyed every second of it. I never buy into Leaguies having so much hatred for union and I think it boils down to jealousy of crowds/revenue/exposure. ATEOTD they are 2 totally separate sports with the only real similarity being the shape of the ball and a few positional names here and there. I have no real connection to the National Union team as I have never enjoyed watching the sport, but I certainly dont take any satisfaction out of a national team losing at any sport just because it isn't Rugby League.
