Does anyone else agree its time to have a clear out and give Youth a chance? No one at 35 years old gets better, this season is finished so time to bed in the youth and clear out the old. I would form a new team around Zak, Ryan Hall, Watkins, Ablet, Robbie, Stevie Ward, McShane, JJB, Ambler, Amour, Kleinhurst. Some quality signings added to the mix, some grunt in the forwards needed and some mongral. Add to that a game plan and a I think we can move forward. We have to be tough, I have never seen such a soft team. a026.gif

No. It's time for the existing players to play like they know they can.
There's nothing wrong with introducing a couple of young players in, Singleton & Ward would be my choices, but to just dump young players in regardless of whether they are ready for it is a recipe for disaster. I'd rather stick with the aged ones for another season or so thus giving the young players time to get ready, than chuck he youngsters in and possibly ruin them.

I think people underestimate the jump from reserves to 1st team. It's massive, and it has to be handled very carefully.

Brian?

Will you do one, shouldnt you be giving Sky a speech about how the players are hurting back there and there'll be alot of soul searching this week?

I dont think wholesale changes is the answer tbh and getting rid of most of the team because of their age isnt the answer.

We need a good blend of youth and experience. The likes of Peacock and Webb need to have a serious look in the mirror and pull their socks up. Its a honor to wear the Blue & Amber, so start playing like that and the younger lads will see that and take it on.

Something needs to change, but I just dont know what. Get rid of Mac and replace with whom? Its sad times really.

youth will not get a chance if we keep sending them to Wakey, London, Dewsbury, Widnes Etc, We will be down the the under 18's if we dont allow them 1st team game time - Look at Saints n Wigan. IN wigan;s case - their second team of forwards took us apart last week

I don't think we need to make too many changes but, we do need to inject some pace into the side both in the backs and the forwards. I'd keep Hardaker at FB and bring Keinhorst into the centre. Ward and Sinsgleton should come into the 17.

I'd also consider bringing Olds into the halves to see how he does as I though Sinfield was terrible in both defense and attack.

No you're right. Ignore what I just said, get rid of anyone over the age of 25 and stick every reserves player we have in the 1st team. That'll solve the problem.

Do you seriously think we should be replacing current first team regulars with reserves who haven't played a first grade game yet? Do you realise the difference between playing regular u20's and playing regular open age? Never mind regular u20's and regular SL.

A balance is essential. We have 2 centres, a second row and a winger learning their positions in the first team and a hooker out on loan learning his position. One or 2 more is fine. Many more and you're just asking for one or more of them to be ruined by being thrown in too early and you won't get any improvement in the team either.

Him summed this up perfectly.

The great side we've seen weren't just all thrown in together. They were integrated properly over a number of seasons.

Interesting you think kleinhurst should be integral to this side? As you don't know his name, have you actually seen him play?

Jimmy Kleinhorst - saw him in the nines on tuesday. One swallow does not make a summer, but it's worth blooding him - instead of Smithy and while Watkins is out

To call the likes of Peacock and Kylie soft is verging on the clueless.

Remove "verging on" from your last sentence, and you've got it spot on

We cant make wholesale changes but we have a run of fixtures coming up that are "easier" than we have had of late...surely a great opportunity to blood some of the promising kids. Ill be at a loss with the set up down there if at least a few of singleton, ward, chisholm, hood, smith and keinhorst dont at least get a look in.

Unless players need resting from the exiles game, and not many should get in, I'd expect ward to get a run out of that lot, and possibly singleton, and that's it. I'll be at a loss if all those names appear any time soon

What surprises me is that for the last 7 or 8 years, the rest of us have been told about the wonderful Leeds youth policy... Where the f*** are they.. ? This is not a troll, its a serious question...
