Obviously disappointed... Silly mistakes, dropped balls etc etc. However fair enough, wigans defence was quality. We can't expect to be at our best every week, I still fancy us next week. Shame mcshane didn't get more of a run out, but hats off to Wigan. We'll be back.

Abit more composure next week please and let's learn our lessons.

Bring on next Friday!

Teams are still trying stuff out at this stage of the season. Don't read too much into Wigan losing last weekend or us this. Our lack of attacking structure is a worry though. Wigan's intensity levels were much better than ours for the whole night, and they ran out deserved winners. No complaints re: the referee from me, if we had played well enough to have a chance of winning there were a couple of calls you could question, but I thought Wigan were highly unlucky to have their first try disallowed as well.

We need bring some end of season intensity with us next weekend otherwise we could be in big trouble!

Agree completely - not reading too much into this.... Definitely think mcshane should have had more of a run out though. Time will tell! Can't wait!

Thought Burrow was your best player tonight to be fair - always a threat in attack.

This is the problem when people look at individuals rather than teams. Sure it looks good a fast little guy buzzing around all over, but what about the team and the structure of it. He gave us no structure whatsoever, he confused his team mates, stopped the halves from controlling, but sure individually he looked fun.

This is a poor selection choice that is going to cost us.

attack WHAT attack icon_rolleyes.gif Our attacked consisted of laughable basketball rugby with no composure or structure.

We absolutely failed at a fundamental part of the game with no attempt to establish control and dominance over the middle of the park in contrast to Wigan who totally dominated and controlled this area which then allowed them the composure and control to hit us wide out when the time was right.

No blame on Burrow he is playing out of position at a vital phase of the game and in an area where he has not got the instinct or the abiliity to do what is required.

As I stated last week time will tell against a better organised team and Wigan showed a clear understanding of why the AHB position is vital to the modern game.

It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.:1157.jpg

Absolutely bang on DAO. We failed to set the platform with the front row, the AHB didn't dictate play, and as a result we were a "ragtag and bobtail" outfit, simply throwing the ball around to try to find a gap in a well marshalled defence.

This is the same as the way we started last year, not the same as we finished it.

It's only round 2 and we shouldn't panic, but we do need to adjust our playing style to the one we know works rather than the one we know doesn't.

agreed no need to panic and there are alternatives. One of our strengths last year was the players never paniced and remained focused and it came right in the end.

the fundamental difference this year is we have lost a vital ingredient and choice at AHB which the club have chosen not to seek a replacment from from outside.

One thing BM has earned is the right to expect some patience from us but to select an out and out hooker and not play him from the bench at some stage is hard to understand.

I am rather hoping that at this early stage with one win from 2 games and a huge WCC decider next week its that BM is playing his cards close to his chest so has not to expose his game plan to the aussies.

If next week we have 2 points and a WCC trophy in the bag we will all be made to look daft again icon_smile.gif

Our penalty count was shocking, especially in the first half you can't turn the
Ball over as frequently as we did and expect to win, especially against a team
Like wigan.
Wigan were much more motivated than we were , but i did not see anything
From wigan that we could not overcome in future meetings.
Griffin played well when he came on . Other than that roll on to the manly
Game and let's see the real rhinos.

with regards to the penalty count it would have been nice if both teams had been reffed the same. alibert is a homer, we have had the benefits of him in the past. totally out of his depth

Some great points DA/BR our distribution out wide was very slow and pedestrian leaving Wigan plenty of time to get their line sorted and snuff out any chance of space.
one note on the discipline i would hope that we get the same calls that go against us and win lose or draw Alibert is not up to it imo way out of his depth ,Guess' far too often and is intimidated by big games.

We were shocking full stop. Only one player stood up to the mark and that was JJB.
Burrows is not a starting hooker. He should be on the bench to replace the starting hooker, which is another problem as IMO McShane does not look like the answer. Hooker is most important position on the pitch. I believe Sinfield should start there and give Stevie Ward a chance at stand off. I'd even think about chucking him next week against Manly next week. Manly will know very little about him(if anything).

While I can agree with you that Mr Alibert is probably the worst ref in the league, I don't think we can have any complaints re the way the game was reffed last night. Wigan played with a LOT more intensity than us, as a result won more of the 'rucks' and therefore earned more penalties. We were taking the ball up in 1's, leaving Wigan the chance to gang tackle us 3 and even 4 on one and slowing down the ptb. As a contrast they were going up harder and in 2's allowing them to take defenders away and win the ground battle.

Sure, Alibert made some strange decisions (Hall forward pass icon_stupid.gif ) and his lack of knowledge of the basic rules of the game worries me, but I don't think he was much of a factor last night.

I will just say though that Wigan look a less scary prospect then they did last season, but then again without Buderus so do we!

Officially RLFAN's most Doe-eyed Happy Clapper. Big Steve wrote: The Internet has provided some wonderful creativity, opportunities and knowledge sharing but it has also given a worldwide forum for people you would leave a full pint behind in the pub to avoid having to listen to them. aboveusonlypie... If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg

Don't forget we used one debutant, and one player who had one game in 2008. Apart from the "Knee-jerkers" on the board, most people like the way we are moving forward.

The 2nd week we have had a bad ref. Last week did not affect the result at all, but was inconsistant, and missed loads.
