| What is it with these people?
The VT and other boards are littered with unwarranted and usually unreasoned garbage about our Kevin.
Personally I suspect they're so upset at his role in defeating almost every team at club level that they're incapable of seeing anything good in him at international level. Most of his detractors seem to be Saints, Wigan and Wire fans, all of whom have suffered at the hands of the master in big games in recent years.
Sinfield was brilliant last night - a good kicking game, big defensive effort (25 tackles), ran the game alongside the equally impressive Roby, and had a hand in 20 out of England's 28 points and these idiots are still putting him down.
Glad to get that off my chest.

| The stuff across all the boards with fans backing their club players and bagging everyone else is ridiculous. Leeds fans are equally guilty.

In a nutshell you are right, it's a shame that other supporters feel the need to criticise Kev, yesterday he led England around the pitch, not only in attack but in defence, and to say that he didn't deserve MOM is idiotic, however i will comment on how well the likes of Sam Tomkins and James Graham played yesterday, they played as bigger part as Sir Kev did yesterday.

| The one thing we have seen from Sinfield is this flat pass that has had a big red cross on it time and time again. It hasnt been a one off, its been in each of the games so far. He is not an international standoff. He has a great kicking game and is a leader on the field but i would prefer to drop Heighington ( not been impressed) put Sinfield at 13 and start Widdop. We should be building for the future and we have a superstar youngster who ripped up the NRL having to make way. Sinfield has his qualities but he shouldnt be our starting 6.

Agree with this but Sinfield more than anyone seems toattract more than his fair share of it.

Regarding the flat passes, I kind of take your point but bear in mind he's trying to break down the best defennces in the world so he has to take it to the line and take some chances. I just don't see why you'd change Saturday's team at all. Sinfield has won 2 Grand Finals at 6 and he's not looked at all out of his depth at 6 in this tournament, quite the reverse IMO. I've not been that impressed with Heighington either, but again, why change it now?

the thought is fine but the execution is poor. He just a fraction of a second out each time which makes it hard for the runner whoever it is. I agree that there is no point changing now but we have a player who is ripping it up in the NRL who is being ignored. We need to look at our long term plans and Sinfield at 31 isnt part of those. He would had have been more suited to 13 from the start, can still contribute as ball handler but leave the creativity to Chase and Widdop. Sinfield is a great organiser but to split the best defences you need the orgainisation and the speed. Sinfield doesnt pose a threat a 6, he has no pace and isnt the greatest passer of the ball. Ultimately he is a 13 playing at 6. I do rate him but o feel that Widdop would have been the better option from the start of the tournament.

I can't honestly say I agree having seen his performances throughout the play offs at 6 and then again on Saturday v NZ. I thought he did OK against Australia as well. Sinfield doesn't have great straight line speed or speed off the mark, but believe me, having watched him play for nearly 10 years, he's got enough speed to get through a gap if a gap is there. He will be helped on Saturday perversely by playing against Lockyer who's obviously not as quick as he was. I'd probably accept that a stand off with out and out pace could expose him.

| Whilst the "flat pass" needs work on timing to say Sinfield doesn't posess a decent pasing game indicates you aren't watching properly.
Go through the tries or breaks alone that have been created during the 4 nations and you'll see Sinfield passing putting players through the gaps or scoring and that's without watching any Leeds footage.
As for leaving the creative stuff to Chase we'd of scored naff all waiting for him to create tries ,a complete let down thus far.

The ramblings of idiots should be of concern to none. Chill, it's as predicable as Freddy Star's upcoming meltdown in the Jungle.

I disagree. Sinfield was a deserved MOM on Saturday who at 6 gave England complete control of the match. Widdop came on only in the last 10 minutes when the game was won. Sinfield did the same against Australia playing a crucial role in 3 out of our 4 tries and creating several other opportunities that others failed to take. When Widdop came on and Sinfield reverted to the pack we looked less organised.
Widdop is not a creater or an organiser but is a runner with the creative work in the NRL coming from Cooper Cronk and Smith. In this series to date neither Chase nor Widdop have exerted any control over the games. This control has come mainly from Sinfield and against NZ help from Roby.
The current objective is to win this series not to plan for the future. Therefore our best chance is a repeat performance of a patient controlled game with fully completed sets and minimum errors. Sinfield provides our best chance to achieve this at this point in time.
IMO we should play Widdop from the start in place of Yeaman to give us extra pace and attacking options out wide.

| i wait and see i think most people have been judging on previous performances but i think he has done well this tourney i think it has helped that he can take a step back and be able to be the organizing halfback rather than having to do both the organisation and the creativity with him having chase as a partner i think it gives him time to organise get his troops where he needs them and this is the reason i think he is doing well this tournament with having such a creative and unpredictable partner sinfield is able to sit back and do his usual game and the game that he is good at compared to previous tournaments when he has partnered danny maguire yes he does this week in week out but with lack of creativity in the england team in general in seasons past sinfield HAD to take the role of creative half back which is not his game so to be fair i think he is enjoying playing the style he knows ad well done on the MOM last night it was thoroughly deserved

| Outstanding player but not an international stand off - England should have had the game won by half time but for three poor decisions by the stand off. NZ were poor and England got away with it they will not have it so easy on Saturday. Split second decisions make the difference at this level not the case at SL level. Look what happened last night - Brears was superb until the Aussies cut his space then he looked very ordinary. The likes of Thurston and Lockyer have another mental gear when required not sure any SL halves possess that ability. It will be interesting to see how Lomax and Gaskill develop as pair - they look like they have the x factor.
The problem is if he plays he has to control everything as he does at Leeds - if he plays 6 or 13 the attacking plays will be identical so starting Widdop and playing Sinfield at 13 will not work. He has to play so you have to live with his limitations.
On the hospital passes how JJB is still walking is a testiment to his toughness - Sinfield throws 4/5 of those every game mostly to JJB.
