| I have been going to Wembley or wherever the finals being played for around thirty years and I cannot recall seeing such as disgusting display from any supporters like the display that I witnessed on Saturday.
A group of idiots wearing Wigan colours were throwing coins and plastic beer containers at a group of kids from the Dewsbury Celtic club who were on a trip to Wembley and then going to play in a tournament at Hemel .
The issue the idiots had was that the lads from Dewsbury were cheering for Leeds and were in the end of the group where most the the Wigan support was, or their end as they called it.
I for one DO NOT want to see these Idiots spoiling what is a great occasion where supporters can all sit together in the ground and cheer for whoever they like.
The great game of rugby league doesnt needs numpties or bandwagoners like this in our game!!!!
I have posted this on the Wigan board aswell will be interesting to see any response

| Challenge cup brings out all the idiots. I had trouble with one fella in a Leeds top, his other Leeds mates were embarrassed for him. Beer and idiots don't mix regardless of the colours they're wearing. Should have taken a vid and pics and shamed them on here as that's the type of behaviour why the naturals in attendance are declining.

| Please change the title to "generic thread castigating opposition fans after a final".
As Nick said, there will be idiots in blue and amber too. In fact, I saw one. And an idiot in orange and black.

| That's right although I'd suggest most of the idiots were Wigan/Leeds fans drinking on a day trip, same story every year.
The problem with posting this on our board is someone will inevitably assume you're tarnishing all Wigan fans with the same brush and it'll turn into a slagging match rather than offering something constructive.

I know the majority of Wigan fans are decent folk (met quite a lot during weekend) and other teams have their fair share of NUMPTIES that cant take their drink.
But the point I was trying to make is that this type of fan(I use that term lightly) is not welcome in this great game of ours.
It is a family game I am proud to say and long may it be so!!!!!!

| I agree with what has been said on here. There should be a generic thread and the post could be posted to every club on this forum.
People may call me an armchair supporter but unfortunately I can't get to many games because of health and financial reasons these days. As a Leeds supporter at the games I do attend, I was ashamed to admit I was. On buses and trains back from games there were complete to**ers masquerading as Leeds fans and that is the only word I can use for them. Alcohol had obviously been involved and their inability to handle it seemed to be apparent. However, added to this was being obnoxious, no disrespect for anybody else and also showing off within their little group.
Sounding like an old fart but the days of the 80's and 90's where both teams fans can have a banter are still there and that is what makes me proud to be a RL fan. However, all of us from all clubs are now feeling this rise in to**ers supporting their own club. If we had a choice, we would ban them but we can't.
The problem described in this post surely comes down to better stewarding at Wembley and removing these people whether Wigan or Leeds and let the rest of us enjoy the game. If any fan wants to take a stand against them then it is up to them, as I know some people can't stand by and leave it to the stewards.
A complex issue in our game now but lets all enjoy it for what it is - the greatest game.

I fully agree with the statement about the complexity of this statement with the overwhelming majority of fans behaviour resulting in important press reports such as this
www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/rugbyl ... d-day.html
As a fan I love mixing and chatting with fans from all teams as well as having a few beers but I still enter the ground nervous about who we will be sitting next to. Through luck or by purchasing my seats early via the RFL I have to date avoided the small minority who get so much attention on the message boards! Long may this luck continue as I would never attend a match stewarded to the extent witnessed while attending both the FA Cup final and Charity shield. At the latter Wembley Way was actually segregated into two halves by a line of police down the middle for it's full length. How we manage the minority must be kept in perspective alongside the behaviour and enjoyment of the majority - hence the complexity!

One coach had to pull over on the motorway as the 'fans' on board were scrapping amongst themselves, the police had to be called and many were arrested.

| As I entered the stadium at Entrance D and was going up the escalators there were a group of four chavs (NO TEAM COLOURS ON THEM ) singing TONY YEBOAH ! ! songs .BFBB was on the escalator at the same time , but further up and behaving himself .
They were openly drinking from bottles of spirits .. I know this because they offered me a drink form a Smirnoff bottle .
At the bar ouside block 511 they started carrying on with Rhinos fans ( Dawn posts on here occasionally , and Julie etc ). It was very tempting to walk over and smash the four of them , but I thought better of it . Imagine my horror when they entered block 511 and sat directly behind where me and my mam were sat . They were getting rowdy . Abusing some nearby Wigan fans , sloshing ale around , and smoking . The stewards went to see them twice in the first half . At half-time they were escorted out .
Rhinos fans .. NO . Pi55ed up bandwaggonning chavs .. YES . We certainly don't want to be associated with people like that .
A few of you on here will be aware that I rather enjoy a beer or two and a bit of a laugh at games , but there is a line that even I stop at . They well and truly crossed it . If I hadn't have been with my mam I would have gone and had a word . The only reason I didn't have a word is because my mam told me to keep out of it , and that I would probably have been thrown out with them .
Apart from them I didn't see any trouble at all .
I did see somebody fall into the row in front of him . He was sat about three seats to my left . He would have been in block 511 , row 18 , between seats 307-314 . He jumped up when we scored , and landed in the row in front Fortunately neither he nor the people he landed on were injured . He was sober(ish) . Anyone know who he was ?

This post was not to castigate opposition fans it was posted to highlight the growing element of undesirables that seem to bandwagoning , it wasn't just Wigan fans who only disgraced themselves , but on the afore mentioned incident it was .
I am proud to be a rugby league supporter and love the fact that you can attend a game stand with the opposition and exchange views on the game without the threat of violence.
I hope this situation will continue , but idiots like the ones I saw and many m,ore have been highlighted soling this great game of ours.
Again the minority our spoiling it for the majority !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| The only criticism I have about the Wigan fans was when we were leaving the ground after the match . We were on our coach (Rhinos coach number 22 ) in the queue to leave , and one of their coaches pulled alongside us . A few were showing their arriss at us , and others were doing 'Tomkins' etc at us . There were kids and old ladies on that side of our coach . My 68yr old mam wanted to go on their coach and smack their arrisses

Just on the subject of mothers.
I've just been down to see my 89 year old mother today. On the Sam Tomkins incident she said, " I hope his dad & mam have a word with him"
Priceless.

Agreed.
I can't condone what he did, but can understand it in view of what has gone on previously. Sam is actually a very nice lad, but probably needs a bit of guidance (he's still only 22) Sadly in this country we love the "tall poppy" culture, whereby we build a kid up, and then take great delight in cutting him down to size.
As you say (and Brian Noble did) I hope his coach, chairman and (his mam & dad) have a word with him.
Your fans missed a great opportunity on Saturday to wind him up. If you had cheered him every time he got the ball he would have been totally confused.
It worked the other way for us at Wigan when we started booing him, look at his performances since that Exiles game.
