Keith Senior will forever be my most favourite player to step foot onto the rugby league field. He might not be the best centre of all time but he’s definitely up they with the likes of Greg Inglis, Mal Meninga, Andrew Ettingshausen and Tonie Carroll in my eyes. To Rhinos fans and myself, Keith will forever hold a special place in our memories for his devastating hand offs that followed by blistering pace to the try line. Whilst he may of lost some of that pace in his later years, he has gained the ability to set up many more tries for his winger in return.

My favourite Keith Senior try had to come in the 2009 super league play offs against Hull KR when he turned back the years to run in from 25 metres to score a try. Ok I guess it was a tiered defence but for nostalgic reasons this was the best try in my opinion of Keith Seniors career.

But it wasn’t just his services for the Rhinos where he did me proud. He is one of a select few in the last ten years that have truly shone on the international scene representing Britain or England. I don’t even remember him having a bad game. In fact all I do remember was he improved at club level once he went on international retirement. My best guess to this is that he put so much effort at the end of the season it worn him out for the next season.

Whilst this year has seen a small deterioration of Keith Seniors game at times, I still feel that he has a lot to offer this Rhinos squad for a good few years yet. Age has obviously caught up with him but age catches up with us all and just because Keith isn’t the player that he used to be, it doesn’t mean that he’s not good enough. The fact that he was included in this years dream team proves this point.

So lets lay off Keith Senior for the rest of the career and enjoy what he still has to offer as romanticising over what happened years ago never pleases. All the best Keith and I look forward to you pulling on Blue and amber next season as I’m sure you enjoy me cheering you on.
