its good to read that the club are considering commissioning a statue of the great man as part of the south stand redevelopment.
I also look forward to the book about his life and career coming out soon

Excellent, I would love for it to be renamed the John Holmes South Stand when its rebuilt at the end of the season. Its fitting and it roles off the tongue, much better then the Leeds Building Society South Stand

Iirc it was in either Fridays or saturdays YEP!!
The book is been sorted by his brother and nephew and the statue consideration was mentioned in that article. |

Interesting that the suggestion was that it be renamed the John Holmes South Stand.
So as much as the poster is wanting to pay tribute, they don't want to lose the South bit out of the title and just call it the John Holmes Stand? |

I agree Andy.
I think we should drop South from the title and make it the John Holmes Stand, new stand, new era, time for a change. In that way it does also mean that any sponsor could still be accommodated and the title made a little shorter by taking out the word 'South'. The Leeds Building Society John Holmes Stand is ok isn't it? I am not attached to the word South and not sure why anyone else would be... it is just a point on a compass! |

Honestly, I dont think the club will lose the South part of the SS name. Simply because it is a good marketing tool and has in the past been seen on jumpers, t-shirts and coats etc.
