After the news 2 weeks back that Setanta are dropping NRL games to 1 i cancelled by subscription.

I had a call last night asking why.

ME. "Becasue you've decided to fill your air time with boring Magners League instead of NRL"

Setanta "Well Sir i notice you are on £12.99 a month, we can reduce that to £9.99"

ME "Whop di do, a £3 saving, but for the sake of £3 it isnt worth it really, money isnt really the point it's that you've taken 2 games per week away from last year"

Setanta "£9.99 is a really good offer for the First Class Boxing, Football and UFC"

Me "You see you only have David Haye which is half decent to watch, there are no more Liverpool games on til next season and sorry but if you gave me £9.99 a month to watch Magners League i still wouldnt watch it"

I tried to cancel a couple of times last weekend but as soon as they put me through to the right department the phone went dead, they are a dead set bunch of f@cking shysters, Im just going to cancel my direct debit.

Spookily i reckon there'll be someone available to talk then!!!

Be careful cancelling your direct debit. I did it when I had trouble cancelling Virgin Media. They just let the subscription carry on, and just stated sending me monthly bills instead.

Yup. Cancelling the DD does not mean the subscription is cancelled.

Not sure what he's meant to do though when he cant get through to cancellations.

Best thing is to ring sales I guess. There'll always be someone to get hold of on that line.

Been there done that. They'll only transfer you to the correct department though and it's at that point that the line goes dead.

Write to them, send it recorded and then cancel the direct debit.

getting through to sales is no problem, its when yu transfer to cancellations where it gets cut off.

Im just going to send them an email or a letter and cancel my direct debit, as i say they can chase me to Australia if they want!

I didnt call them, there is a contact us email, i just sent them an email straight to the point.

I doubt that'll even get read let alone acted upon. Your doing right thing cxd your dd. If they then send you a bill after you've intructed to cancel - get through to payments section (i'm sure there will be one who will answer as they're after money ) and tell them you instructed to cancel. Make sure you keep a record of your instruction to cancel if you need to use it for evidence.

Really wow.. my brother had the same trouble, he sent email after email to which he never got a reply..
