Cap space cleared for this season with Johnson out on loan and Olpherts out permanent. Also means Roberts second choice winger now behind Fusitua.

Tbf Olpherts didn`t do too bad in the friendly although I`m not saying we should have kept him!

It does but i reckon it might be next season when it is is used.Only three senior players off contract Fuss,Dono and Martin.Plus there will be upgrades.

A signing a lot of people didn't want and weren't willing to give a chance, he then made some big errors and never seemed to recover his confidence back.

This signing sums up Rohan Smith as a coach. For every James McDonell signed, you'll get a Derrell Olpherts. For every decent half of free flowing attacking rugby, you have to endure a half of utterly abysmal rugby. When Gary said he was the most balanced candidate, I didn't know he meant this!

Wonder if we will use it to bring in a prop..

It makes sense to create definite cap space whether it's for this year or next. Olpherts wasn't going to add any value to the squad for the salary so really glad this has happened.

Surely no way Donno will be retained as a player after a testimonial year, so that will be two down plus probably Johnson.

Might be another couple of squad players released. Then we will know more about Martin and Fus towards the end of this year.

We are in a position of three-out-one-in I think: reduce the amount of surplus players and concentrate the quality now our youth system is producing again.

I don't think this is correct at all. Olpherts is the only real dud, in terms of not working out at all, that Smith has signed so far.

You would just love to be at a party with this guy, I suppose by some stretch of the imagination all the signings RS has made for 2024 have been duds, despite us being 3 & 1 for the season.
