| So it’s been confirmed by the YEP that Leeds have given Trent Merrin permission to look for a club in the NRL. So who’s next then for the captaincy? As much as he’s been injured in the previous years, I’d give it to Stevie Ward.

| Does this mean that we will extend Ferris' contract and give him the captaincy. And I thought things couldn't get any worse!!

| Ward, christ. Terrible idea. Just not on the park anywhere near enough.

| Tough one. Depends on next couple of players we bring in. Not good though...

| Ward all day long for me. His injury record is poor no doubt but that doesn't me it will be this season. Players can get injured at any point but you still have to appoint a captain.
There is literally no other player I can think of that would come close to ward that is currently contracted for next season.

| We have ballsed up the captaincy since Sinfield left. Let’s get the squad sorted and finalised, then make the right choice.
On current squad with Merrin not there, Ward is the clear obvious choice. But there might be other options once finalised.

| Ward, if he's knacked then Reece Martin unless any new marquee's a real stand-out candidate.

| Ward would be an obvious choice but with him returning from serious injuries he doesn’t need the extra pressure at the moment, let him concentrate on his game. A new signing would have to fit the bill! James Graham as my comment in the transfer section.

| Ward probably, but we need another leader-in-deed in that pack too.
There are some very high quality NRL players floating around this year. If we’re smart then next year could be much better than this one.

| People are probably not going to like this suggestion, but been a lot of complaints about Ward due to his injury record. So what about Liam Sutcliffe? Consistently chosen in the squad, doesn’t get many injuries, captained the academy and England academy, very popular with the team. It’s likely he will nail down a second row / loose position now with the Merrin news.

I don't expect sutty to play much next year tbh. Currently our first choice back 3 must be Merrin, ward and Martin. If Merrin leaves and we don't get another loose then I think ward or cuthbo will play there with mellor or Donaldson getting promoted off the bench.
I'm afraid, for me, sutty will only play when others are injured or rested. Not a caption for me.
