It was very sad to hear that one of our supporters sadly passed away prior to Saturdays game against Toulouse
https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/ ... -1-9296637
Although I never knew him personally I certainly recognised him when I saw his photo in the Y.E.P
I hope that the club will honour Raymond by having a 1 minutes applause at our game v Hull KR as that would be a fitting tribute him
The article mentions that he posted on various social media sites, was he a poster on SS.COM?
R.I.P Raymond gone far too soon

There’s a just giving page been set up by friends to raise money.

I’ve met the guy on a few occasions and although he wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea 33 is absolutely no age.
He’s been on various supporters coaches and was firm friends with a lot of people on every one, he was also involved in the fan ambassador liaison teams at Headingley. The club is worse off without him.

| Didn't know him personally at all. But saw him at loads and loads of games (strange that innit, how you recognise faces at games but have never even said a word to em)
RIP Ray.

| His Dad posts on FB I think something to do with memories from Moortown.
How very sad to lose a son so young.
RIP fella.

| If we had one of these for every fan that died we would have some very sore hands.
If we do this we are affording him the same status as a legendary player/coach - that cannot be appropriate.
As tragic as this was there needs to be a sense of priority here

| A mad keen Leeds fan dies on his way to a game at the age of 33. I see no problem with a minute's applause under those circumstances.
As far as I can tell, he literally died wearing a Leeds shirt.

| It’s a tricky one, if the club do nothing they can seem callous however I get Sal’s point. Maybe something on the website alongside a statement from Sinfield or Hetherington might be more appropriate?

| I'm all for have ashes scattered on the turf - there will obviously been supporters with greater length of supporting the club than this unfortunate gentleman who have never been afforded a minute silence/clap - why this chap?
Whilst I'm on it why do we have to have a clap what is wrong with a minutes silence/contemplation - this is not soccer.

I agree with you Sal, tragic though this maybe.

| First of all, RIP to someone who was obviously a hugely committed fan of the club. Tragic.
However, Sal, I fully agree with you. Some of you will know/remember my Dad died at Old Trafford at the 2005 Grand Final. A mention in the Boxing Day program was perfectly appropriate then and would be similar now with perhaps a mention on the club’s social media as well. Crowd tributes should be reserved for club players and officials or national occasions of mourning where the individual was known to everyone or in the public eye. I don’t think that makes the club callous at all.
Also, for what it’s worth. Silence > applause every time.

I completely agree with you. I was there on Saturday when it happened, and it was awful. I didnt know him personally, but like others have said I've seen him at games. But I don't think a minutes applause is justified.

einstien said insanity is when a person does the same thing over and over again but expects a different result: |
|
| I know we had a minutes applause once for a supporter who was murdered but usually the match day announcer usually reads something along the lines of long time supporter dies deepest sympathy to his family etc which is about right

Ditto - I was in the Oak beer garden when he died and as sad as it is and how devastating it will be for his friends and family, I think that a minutes silence/applause is inappropriate.
Thousands of people I don't know die everyday, if we were to give a minuets applause for every Rhinos fan that dies we'd be clapping every week for someone.

| Don't we have a minute silence/applause at some point in the season (maybe either Boxing Day or on Armed Forces day) for supporters who have passed away during the year?

| Applause or silence, neither would be so taxing.
I find it hard to imagine any reluctance to either, personally.
I've heard Nivea do a lovely hand cream.
