I echo your sentiments. Just telling my step-son that when I was his age (15, in 197icon_cool.gif I started supporting Leeds and this last near decade has been a long time coming. He should relish and appreciate how long it might be before he gets to see the like again.

| That's the thing. I started watching properly in about 1986, and it was a long time till I saw Leeds win anything. The Yorkshire Cup in '88 and the Challenge Cup in '99 were great. During that time, I'd often be told about how our team may be good, but they can't compare to teams of the past. Now nobody can say that. THIS is the team against which all other Leeds team will be measured. THIS is the greatest ever. So happy to be a Rhino.

| You think they were barron years. My son will be going to his 5th Grand Final celebration at Headingley tomorrow, and he's only 5.
2007, 2008, 2009, 2011 and now 2012

| I know, I have followed the Loiners / Rhinos home & away since 1981, and most were barron years. Oh happy years now!

| Just over 40 years ago my dad introduced me to Headingley (lifting me over the turnstiles). The two wins at Wembley, David Ward's leadership and John Holmes's sublime skills blew me away. However, then came the barren years, throughout the 80's I watched them home and away, I lived and worked in Halifax during their glory years ( sometimes feeling like the solitary token Loiner)...I got such pleasure from a Yorkshire cup win at Elland Road, and idolised Cliff Lyons. The 90's were even worse...permanent bridesmaids, beaten in what it seemed was every final or semi final. 1999 and Graham Murray and a Challenge Cup win, seemed like the dawn of a new era, but we had to wait till 2004. I now find myself in a state of disbelief, I live and breathe this wonderful club, I watch humble human beings, perform on the biggest stage, and bring glory without greed or arrogance. They set an example on and off the pitch, we have old war horses, pantomime villains, exciting youth, an electric little bloke, a tattood Aussie, Leeds lads proud to wear our shirt, but above all we have a leader, a man who has taken leadership to a whole new level.
I have never taken a single Grand Final for granted, each one has been special in it's own way, but the feeling of complete elation this year, is something I have never experienced before. I still go to games with my Dad, my daughter comes with me now, and she has known nothing other than success.
Those barren decades make me trully appreciate these amazing years, I am proud to call myself Loiner and Rhino.

Awesome post! Ive walked a very similar path! I've now moved over seas! It brakes my heart being away from my beloved rhinos! But I'm so proud! Stood in my living room balling my eyes out, waiting for the lads to leave the ground before the phone started ringing!

| Another exile here.
I remember Widnes nilling us in the Regal Trophy final at a foggy Central Park. That was the closest we got to a trophy in my early days as a supporter. To transform the fortunes of this club from that shambles to one of the best in our game's history is nothing short of miraculous.

| Went to my first game 1980 with my dad supported them since then. Seen some Barron years (not as many as some have like my dad been going since 30's)
Was quite a nice experience watching last night with me my dad and the little one!!
My wife only started watching in 2006 (fed up with me disappearing off and decided to join me, really caught the bug)
My dad said to me last night that we are very privileged to watch this team play. We probably won't get to see another period in our clubs history like this. A good time to be a rhino

| Like others posters above... Have seen the highs and lows of watching the team since the age of 3 (since 196icon_cool.gif ... I'm just sorry my dad isn't still alive to see this remarkable team, led by a remarkable captain..

Widnes destroyed that team in a final which had seemed destined to be ours after the run leading up to it. The drive back over the '62 that night was awful - suddenly I realised that my heroes were a bunch of underachieving losers. I don't think I've ever really gotten over that childhood betrayal.
It's nothing to do with the current team, of course, but having been there on that dark day, and the same place 14 months later, it casts into relief the last eight years - comparing that Leeds team with this Leeds team shows up everything that used to be wrong with our club.

Fantastic post.
I want to mention the highlighted section because the contrast between these players and the players that wore the shirt in the eighties through to mid nineties couldn't be more stark. Yet still some fans crave those big name signings.
