Anyone else eagerly awaiting the next drip-feed announcement of the latest player to sign a contract extension?

These contract extentions can only be judged fairly if we knew the details. If Webb, Leului and now Kirke have accepted big pay cuts to allow some quality recruitment while staying within cap then thats OK. However if no quality recruitment is forthcoming soon and we have to rely on these players for another year then you have to call into question GH's judgement on his contract negotiations over the last couple of years.

Spot on. If Kirke is used as a backup that's fine by me, if he's a regular part of the 17 for a reason other than injuries to other players then it's a bad move.

If Kirke is used as a backup, what message does that send to Ambler, Singleton, Pitts or Amor for example?

Ridiculous signing, absolutely not justified by his perfomances over the last 18 months or so. I wouldn't even have re-signed him if he had offered to play for free a la Kris Radlinski

No surprise for me, as I posted on another thread last week his performances have not dropped as long as he's been here so whatever GH thinks he offers to the squad (presumably he's cheap) then he is still offering that same service
