That is exactly why they have not released them! They only give you one choice for Christmas, so fans and fans relatives will go and buy you one for Christmas! Then as the season build up starts, hit them with the alternative strip, that said fan will probably decide to buy for himself... given someone bought him the home kit for Christmas! You are more likely to sell more fans two kits rather than just one, by NOT giving them a choice pre-Christmas!

You don't work in marketing do you? icon_wink.gif

Spot on IA we always launch the away kit on the eve of the new season.

It would be nice to see all the new kits though, even if they aren't put on sale just yet.

Would be a poor business decision to do that. At the moment people have seen the home one and think yeah it looks all right, I will get that for Christmas etc. When the away one comes out in a couple of months, same person thinks yeah I really like that will get it but if I would have seen it before Christmas I would have just got the one instead.

This way, a higher % of people will spend more money by buying both shirts rather than a straight choice between home and away.

It all comes down to business and the mighty £

As El Capitano has said, if you were to see it pre-Christmas people might decide not to buy the home kit but wait for the alternative kit... no choice means, no choice to be made... if you want it for Christmas!

Spot on my inflatable friend. Here endeth the lesson Sausagefingers.

Even if you only half like the home kit, if somebody else is buying you it you're likely to have it.

Might sound daft as well but people tend to get a bit frivolous with their money at the end of January. The expense of Christmas is gone so they spend a bit of their wage at the back end of January. Its very good business sense

Spot on.

People (and by that I mean "Joe Public". I'm more than aware there's many exceptions) tend to have 2 major financial outlays... Christmas & a Summer Holiday.

Nobody is thinking... "Best watch the pennies for Christmas" or "Best save up some spending money" in January.

The third Monday of January is known as "Blue Monday". It's supposed to be the most depressing day of the year. Something to do with people having broken NY Resolutions, Weather, Time since a payday (assuming it's longer than usual if paid early for Christmas), distance to the next Bank Holiday (which at that point is like the end of March!), Debt, Dark Nights (known as "seasonal affective disorder"icon_wink.gif anyway... Blue Monday...

People tend to get over this (despite one of the factors being Debt!!!) by spending cash. Even if it involves you going into more debt, buying things cheers you up.

By the way, none of that is meant to be specific to Rugby League or Away Kits. I'm just backing up bewildered's "as daft as it sounds people spend money in January" comment.

Doesn't really matter if you didn't pay for it does it! If you support Leeds, and somebody just gives you the new home shirt, then no harm done. No matter how much you don't like it.
