| Mcguire should be a contender IMO.
Been awesome for us this season, consistently comes up with class plays.
Thing is, is it just me or do leeds player never really get the recognition they deserve at these? Overlooked everytime.

| Well from what I read on the VT we are a shiite club with crap players and an awful coach. Making our 3 championships in a row all the more remarkable.
As nice as winning one of these would be I expect it to go to a Wigan or Saints player, like usual.

Yup.
But sinfield, burrow and mcguire have been consistent performers at the highest level for nigh on a decade winning nearly every honour in the game. Yet at the MOS awards the are almost annualy overlooked every year.
And now eddie wants to give it to this young upstart tomkins whos beena round 2 minutes and as yet has achieved nothing in the game.
I bet it goes to tomkins.

The try yesterday was class and the celebration topped it (a fitting tribute to Gary Mercer at the Shay in '98 I think it was)
His 'match saving tackle' a few minutes later was less impressive though and marked him out as a work in progress.

| Eddie is a tool though! Lockers as been awesome for us but it would seem that Pat Richards could be nailed on! Whoever wins it will deserve it pretty sure the players will get it right!!

| Pat Richards or Roby as a dark horse imo.
It's traditional now that we don't get the individual accolades we just pick up the team ones!

| Pat Richards will get it, but Danny McGuire has had a bluddy fantastic season and improved his all round game whilst being even more devastating in his instinctive impressive support play. He certainly deserves this year's trip down under as first choice SO to Eastmond's (Myler's or even Burrow's - if he continues to build on his recent form -) SH. Tomkins can battle it out with Widdop for FB.

Based upon his abysmal international performances for England in the World Cup of 2008 and the Four Nations of 2009 before being summarily dropped from the team, Danny McGuire has some way to go yet before warranting a first choice recall.

| I'm a Roby man myself.
The reason our players don't get the individual recognition though is because we share the workload and are a good team.
That said, McGuire has been head and shoulders above any other Leeds player this year playing predominantly at 7. He's the best scrum half in SL IMO and I have started a few threads about that this season. I'm happy others are now seeing this

Condemn him forever why don't you ? Lock him up and throw away the key.
On CURRENT form he is the best we've got in SL.

| Man of Steel has now been downgraded IMO. It's nothing more than a glorified popularity contest these days.
Lets say next season the three best players are Jamie Peacock, Willie Mason after a great year at Hull KR and Leon Pryce. Just who do we think might win that?

Are you for real!
He has been far and away the best half-back in SL this year by a long way. Tomkins is a great player but as tvoc states, he still needs some work and more importantly he has played most of the season at FB and that is exactly where I would play him for England with Danny first choice 6/7. That combination really does excite me with Danny at one of the half's & Tomkins at FB. The other half for me is still very up much up for grabs but if Eastmond is able to look the part again in the last few games, then that would be my call.
Lets face it Wellen's is past it at international level, he lack of pace at that level was so obvious and such a problem for England last year. Danny, Tomkins & Eastmond (if he shows form) in the starting 13 is the way to go!
