| Thanks to Mr Silverwood for making an exciting game tonight, with a very fair impartial performance throughout. I do hope with have the pleasure of his company again in the key play off matches.

| 2 poor calls against Leeds late on, although I'm not complaining of course. Hohaia knocked the ball out and Leeds should have had the last scrum.

The difference is a poor call in the 30th minute you have 50 minutes to recover. A poor call in the 78th minute and you're screwed.

| And if you watch the sending off you can clearly see Moon's left arm coming up to make a tackle. Poor display from Mr Silverwood but not the first time he has cost us in an important game. All that said this result brings us together for the final push. I wouldn't bet against us...

Yep, I'm actually more confident about the remainder of the season than I was before the game despite the loss.

| I thoughtt Mr Silverwood was tossing a coin whenever either side lost the ball in the tackle.
Got the red card right though, IMO.

| Both the red card and the last minute scrum were down to the video-ref, not Silverwood.
The Hohaia ball-strip was a mistake (though it was one-on-one and probably went backward).

Why can the video ref send a player off now but they mainly go on report when they can't see usually. It was a penalty at most games going soft

it was a red.
but this raises a good point. normally it would be a on report, yet suddenly the VR can tell the ref its a red card? i think thats brilliant and should be used more ofter (we wont ever see it again btw) that way it by passes the shambles that is the on report function. at least saints got the benefit not wigan/hull.

| I believe Mr Silverwood is a Leeds fan, that's good news!!! as I dread to think how many 50/50 calls we would have had tonight otherwise. Lets hope we have the pleasure of his company again in the play offs? or will he be dropped like players who have a poor game? At least he made the night for Phil Clarke and the rest of the impartial team on Sky, and also he will have cheered up Eamon McManus, as they will now likely have the Hub Cap to put in the empty trophy cabinet. Can't wait till we meet again in the play offs!!!

| The red card should be the onfield ref's decision. Moot point here, as once the VR tells him it's a shoulder charge to the head, there's no decision to make.

I've only briefly seen a replay (just back from my holidays!) So this is a genuine question.... was it actually intended to be a shoulder charge? I thought it looked like a case of bad timing by Moon combined with Perceval falling forwards in the tackle. If so then it seemed a harsh (but not necessarily unwarranted) red card.
I think plenty of worse challenges escape punishment and suspect the injury was the key factor in the red (not something I generally agree with as intent should be the key factor)

It was an automatic red these days. A couple of years ago, pre ban, it would have probably been let go with Moon back slapped by his team mates for forcing the mistake. But when you look at the replay, it's a classic shoulder charge, there is a lazy attempt to get the hands up but the point of the shoulder impacts first and very cleanly with the cheek bone. For me it doesn't matter what the arms are doing, it's the point of contact that the problem. It was a challenge Moon should have stayed out of, there wasn't enough of Percival available for him to have any sort of meaningful shot on him as he was wrapped up well by other players. The head was the only real target. Moon isn't a dirty player, but hasn't he been sent off before? A nice 2 game rest before the play offs is probably in order.
