just been told that Gary Hetherington is going give a pay has you play contract
to Jordan Tansey he still talk to a lot of the team

brian mcdermott told gary that he would be a good player if we get some injury
technically he can play centre, wing, full-back, scrum half and hooker
he still only 25

BUT NO PLZ NO

This better be a joke....the kid's a liability with all his off-field stuff!

It would be pretty unusual for Leeds to take a chance on a player with past disciplinary problems, but Tansey can be pretty exciting on his day and pay as you play seems a fairly safe option.

Whether or not he can resurrect a career that IMO showed bags of potential will depend on whether he can control his occasional brainf*rts, both on and off the field.

we will all way Remember him scoring the decisive try in Leeds' Millennium Magic 2007 match against Bradford Bulls, when he followed up a Kevin Sinfield penalty in the last play of the game which hit the crossbar; had the penalty gone over Leeds would only have drawn 38-38.

Don't get me wrong, when he is on it he's a good little player, but how many chances does this kid get before he learns to mend his ways and concentrate on being a model professional. My other feeling is that we already have loads of competition at FB and in the backs, and if he was on a pay as you play contract, unless we have a massive injury crisis at some stage, when would he actually make the team anyway?

Who's to say we won't have a massive injury crisis...we've been pretty unlucky on that front for the last two seasons. Also worth noting that many of the backs are still pretty young and may benefit from being rested occasionally. Tansey's versatility makes him a decent option to fill in.

Yes he's had a lot of chances, but he must be aware that pay per play will surely mean that the consequences of another screw-up will be much more serious for him than they are for the club.

I think this is fantastic news if true.

He seems to be over his problems now (otherwise he wouldn't be mentioned) and I’m sure he won’t ruin things a second time around if given a second chance at Rhinos. I've always rated him and I can see Tansey really kicking on if this comes to fruition.

Not his biggest fan, never really been impressed with him, but play and pay deal wouldn't be the end of the world

I'd agree if it was anything other than pay as you play, which is low-risk for the club and not particularly charitable.
I'm not sure exactly how this works, but presumably he'll have to show up well in training to be considered for a match..if not he doesn't get paid. Seems like a better deal for the club than the player.

Unless he's an unsettling influence on other players I don't see a problem. He must be aware that he's on shaky ground and if he doesn't come up to scratch I'm pretty sure that Brian Mac's exactly the sort of person to either straighten him out or get rid.

Would agree seems a better deal for Leeds than tansey. He still knocks around with alot of the team still. And if he gets the deal
Would like to think he has grown up enough to realise this will probably his last shot
Of making something of himself
In rugby

Unless he has the "Kirke factor" .......then no matter how much he fails to impress he will still gain selection at the expense of a better player. Ughh !

Haven't we got Lee Smith for this? He can cover all the roles the OP mentioned except scrum half.

Can't believe we would be interested in any kind of deal, when we have been debating whether a former legend would be any good as a back up on the same sort of basis.
