| Made his loan move at Wakefield permanent. Hindsight is a great thing but should never have gone to union. Says a lot that he's only got a deal at Wakefield untill the end of 2013.

Was time for him to move on, couldn't see him getting back to how he was a few years ago. Nobody will forget his tries in the few grand finals he played in!

| Shame it didn't work out this time, but it didn't work out this time.
IMO we need 7 first-team-ready players to cover 1-5 (it's handy that one of them can play in the pack too) before we start relying on untried cover in Chishom, Keinhorst etc.
This year it's been Webb, BJB, Watkins, Hardaker, Hall, Ablett, Smith.
We're now two light for next year, and I imagine this will be the focus of our recruitment.

You're right. First up should be a quality centre if possible.

| If we are freeing up some cap space now could that mean a back signing before next season?

I bet you not
Sad in a way about Lee Smith. After winning the Harry Sunderland award it looked like he was really going to kick on to be the future Leeds FB. How times change.
Right move for him: Wakefield is about his level now.

| Had the X factor before his move to union, would try the unexpected and pull it off quite often.
Hope it works out for him

| Wish him well and his efforts for us and in GF's wont be forgotten.
As for signings watching Keinhorst and Chisolm again for U20's they deserve a shot imo before we bring anyone from outside the club in unless its top notch quality.

Totally agree. Let's hope GH is thinking on similar lines.

| Did some great things in his first stint at the club, I had really high hopes when he resigned for us, but he never got back to anywhere near his best. Wish him all the best at Wakefield, hope he can get his career back on the right path.. just not a week a Monday.

42170_1280565797.jpg Rule 1. I am always right.
Rule 2. If in any case I appear wrong, refer to rule 1.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_42170.jpg |

As silly as it sounds how much better than Ablett and Watkins are we realistically going to get? They are both playing very well, both young(ish) and british. Assuming Ablett stays on at centre which I think he should, could we sign someone that's going to be THAT much better that they'd justify taking a quota spot and probably a large chunk of the cap? I'd doubt it, I'd only go for Atkins as I can't exactly seeing us sign someone like Inglis and any other centre we bring over from Aus I don't think would improve our centre's enough to justify what they'd cost. If you look at our pensioner forwards we could improve in both props and the second row without having to sign a 'top' player imo. A young enthusiastic prop and impact second rower is what we need most.

Any new signings (should there even be any) can't play before 2013 now anyway given the signing deadline to play in 2012 passed on Friday.

The deadline has now passed but I don't think it was ever an option. Obviously there is more cap space now available for a quality signing plus rumours of 1/2 other players leaving. Andy Wilson said that we had signed a top NRL star for 2013 but it's never being confirmed by GH. We'll just have to wait to find out what's up his sleeve (if anything)!
