Carl Ablett has confirmed he will retire at season end.

Sad way to go out but the right call in the end.

When he was in his prime, an underrated player for a good few seasons IMO.

A great player for us and a shame he can't have the right send-off like JJB, or that he didn't contribute at all this season. We could have used him under Furner when we had few back-row options.

That said, thinking about the needs of the current team, this is surely the right decision. Hopefully it means we're not done with recruitment for next season, and have some quality players to join us yet!

Its sad that this last couple of years has affected his retirement announcement.

Despite not being a natural centre that's where he had most impact in gfs. Great utility value.

Hope he enjoys his retirement, he's been one of underrated players of his generation, and if you were picking a GF 13, he'd definitely be in it.

Very underated player and great servant to the club.He must be saddened to go out this way.On the plus side it does release more cap space.My lasting memory of his was when he ran over Briers to score in the Grand Final.

Carl has been a great player and hugely underrated. Should have represented GB many times imo. Big powerful good ball skills solid D great utility value. Thanks for the memories Carl. All the best.

Been a great player for us but it was inevitable.
A hugely under rated Centre & a quality hard working BR.

Was able to wind up the opposition without being too heavily penalised as well, which is a useful trait...

A member of the golden generation part of that legendary period .

Perfect example of a club workhorse and as others have said under rated for many seasons but was a big part of our success.

2012 GF was fantastic.

Great servant to Leeds, deserved a proper send off too. Really enjoyed his performance in the 2012 GF against Warrington, did a great job covering centre that year too.

His ability to get punched in the face for no apparent reason was second to none.

My personal highlight will be him stroking Myler's leg as he went to feed the scrum when he was at Catlans. Myler lost it completely and Ablett stood with a trademark grin.

The way he has ended his career says everything about what he has been for Leeds - a loyal servant to the club

Others may have sat on the physio table or bench and claimed their second year salary. He hasn't, he's done right by himself and the club.

Sad to see it end this way but he has had a heck of a career.
