| Wonder whether we will see some changes this week v London. I hope so after the issues we had v Hull FC. Sutcliffe, Merrin and Newman should all keep their spots, which is surprising. I would also like to see McLelland given a shot.

| I think some changes have to be made after two poor performances on the bounce.
I’m not sure whether those replacement players would necessarily be better now, but if the season is going to be a write off anyway we might as well start developing 2020s team.
Then again we don’t necessarily want to give our brightest young talent an absolute pasting with the crowd booing etc. Trust in Furner.

I would be very interested to know how Merrin is causing all these fights. Last time I checked a fight requires at least two participants.
Totally agree we should immediately put down all coaches and players and see if we can get Doug Laughton back and make Walters captain.
Personally I think it's the curse of a new stadium and we should make the move to play at Roundhay park where we can rebuild the atmosphere from scratch.
Get a grip. We are in for a long season caused by a period of stagnation. This won't be fixed in 6 games.
So sick of this constant childlike need for instant success. We are like spoilt little children.

Everyone knows what changes need to be made at the club in order for us to be successful again and I fully agree with both Sir Kev and Dave Furner with regards to this moving forward long term
https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/ ... -1-9577196
But can anyone tell me how Salford went to Catalan and won 46-0 with this squad?
1 Niall Evalds
2 Derrel Olpherts
3 Kris Welham
4 Jake Bibby
5 Ken Sio
6 Robert Lui
7 Jackson Hastings
8 Daniel Murray
9 Joey Lussick
10 Gil Dudson
11 Josh Jones
12 Jansin Turgut
13 Mark Flanagan
Subs
14 George Griffin
15 Greg Burke
16 Ben Nakubuwai
17 Adam Lawton
I'm sure that Ian Watson would also love to improve his squad by shopping at the top table but they seem to be be able to win games with players that wouldn't necessarily get into most other SL sides,So we can't hide behind this excuse anymore
How many of that side would we want?
Their spine of Evalds,Lui,Hastings and Lussick work very well together and Ian Watson is also a very under rated coach (despite being a moaning f#cker)
IMO it's time for our established current first team players to stand up and be counted and to improve our performances and more importantly our results, and if they can't deliver then IMO lets get committed players in from our academy system that will improve our ineptness and weak areas

If Singleton continues to perform the way he has been he'll be permanently at Fev. Our worst forward against Hull (statistically).
Merrin strikes me as someone who's come over to do a job and be professional rather than look for trouble. If there's anything in this it looks like simple jealousy from other squad members. If they can't deal with a former State of Origin and Kangaroo being paid marquee wages maybe they should look for other clubs.

| So we are making up stories now to try make matters worse , we are where we are because of 3 years poor recruitment and no leaders in the squad . too early to blame Furner although i am sure he had a major say in our signings . Somehow we need to sort out half back and forward issues by the start of next season but this year is a write off and if we lose on Friday we are in deep trouble . What we need to do is get out of relegation trouble and get some kids in and find out which ones we need to be looking at as first choice for next season .Stop saying we are all like spoilt kids . most of us do not expect us to win trophies every year . The golden years were great but in a salary cap sport are never going to happen again but those of us who lived through the 80s and 90s just want us to compete for now .

| If these rumours are true then at least Merrin is showing a bit of fight somewhere.
Sorry, easy target. He was pretty good the other night actually. In fact most of your pack were reasonable.
I'm sure I aren't telling you anything you don't already know but from what I have seen its the halves that are the main problem. We were sat in the south stand on Friday so we got a good close look at your attack when you were camped on our line for long periods. Neither Myler or Lolohea seemed to have the remotest idea of how to unlock a defence. There was a moment that summed it up where Lolohea had the ball late in the tackle count about 10 metres out. He caught it, stood still, looked left, looked right, and literally just handed it to a forward next to him who was immediately tackled. It was like in a kid's game where a kid throws the ball away because they don't want to be tackled. Also the amount of passes that went on the floor or into touch was terrible.
I don't know much about this lad McClelland but I can't see how he can be any worse than what I saw on Friday. You remind me of Catalans last year. There is quality in the team, but you need someone to direct them around. Drinkwater is a very average player, but he was the right sort of player to just provide a little direction to get a tune out of Catalans star players. If you can find your own Drinkwater then you probably aren't a bad side.

Quite clearly my spoilt kids comment was directly aimed at the post i was responding to and was not aimed at every Leeds fan to walk the earth.
Though I stand by the sentiment. It's already farcical some of the comments you see, particularly on some Facebook pages.
As someone who also lived through the 80s and 90s (I assume you are trying to say I'm some kid who knows nothing about the trauma's of supporting Leeds) I don't just want us to compete. I want us to win and win well but sometimes you need to know when to take a step back and breathe.
In reality we have had two poor performances against wakey and hull. The other games, win or lose, we had been showing improvements with people salivating after the saints game about what could have been.
I'm just tired of the need for instant success at every turn. Which yes, does make many fans look like spoilt kids.

Agree with this. Not sure if McClelland is the answer, but he surely needs to be tried soon if the incumbents continue to play poorly.

| McLelland isn't the answer at the moment and should be allowed to continue to develop under Burrow in 19s for now playing behind a dominant pack.
Put him behind Singo, Sutty, Ferres, Donaldson, Ablett and co making a combined 100m a game and never breaking a tackle and it could destroy the lad at this stage of his development.
The previous post about finding a Drinkwater type half was spot on. Drinkwater isn't good enough but we needed an organising game managing 6 which I've said all off season. I said Lolohea was never a 6 and was totally rounded on by the people who are now saying Lolohea isn't a 6 lol.
As for this nonsense about Merrin causing trouble, quite frankly, so he should if he's making 50 tackles and doing his job when others aren't. Makes me laugh that people say the team is fighting whenever we lose. Believe me the golden generation and every team had there fair share of fallouts and squabbles it just never gets mentioned when a team is winning.
People need to calm down and be patient. It will take time but we will be fine.
It's easy to spot the fans that have only ever seen success they are the ones leaving with 20 mins to go. If you can't support the team through these periods don't support them through the good times either. Been a supporter is about being there when it matters and it matters now.

| Agree Marty but McLelland could be a bench spot for first team sooner rather than later for me at least. I share your concern over bringing young lads through before the first team is ready for them - seen it before and it can ruin careers, or end up in us losing the talent to somewhere more enjoyable for them to play. It's a judgement call like everything and the coaching staff are best positioned.
Lolohea is a difficult one. I really want to like him, and he was dynamite at times in his junior career, but he looks to be struggling for confidence and form right now, and he's clearly lost the pace that he used to have. It's always a risk signing someone who sees themselves as a 6 but has never really proved it at top level. He does need to do better, because Walker is pretty much nailed on at 1 bar injury.
Spot on re. fans. Support isn't the same thing at all as glory boating. We all want to see a successful side but getting on the players' backs is never good to see and never works. I honestly don't think a player pulls on a Leeds shirt, crosses the whitewash onto to field of play in a pro RL game, and doesn't try their best. If the player is limited ability, that's partly/mostly the club's responsibility for putting them there.
I'm not saying attitude can never be improved but the fixes needed at Leeds aren't mostly focused around the guys just trying harder.
