| Hope they get relegated the snakes.
"League Express revealed last week how the Wildcats signed Simon Grix before the deadline, yet Brian Smith admitted there is "almost no chance" of Grix playing for them this season. The deal was understood to have been done to help Wolves create the necessary space on their salary cap to sign Chris Sandow.
Very unethical and against the spirit of the game. I don't care if his brother is in charge at Warrington, Brian Smith is setting a sly vindictive precedent. I hope Wakey go down and stay there for ten years. Sandow could have been running out at Wembley and costing our lads a winners medal. We won't forget your nasty little trick Wakey.

| More like nasty little trick Warrington.
Only a loan so he could potentially end up back at Warrington in 2016 having never played a single game for Wakefield. Sure they'll have been some brown paper bags somewhere that enticed the Wildcats to go for this.
They need to win this weekend vs Bradford in the Sky game. Lose that and with Leigh away and HKR and Widnes to come then they'd really be in sh*t.

Whilst it may not be in the Spirit of the game, its a business, Wire offloaded a player who couldn't or would unlikley feature to sign another, I am sure Wakey got something out of it..... as long as its before the deadline then so be it. We call GH a shrewd business man (sure he has made marginal calls) , maybe this was a shrewd business move from Wire.......

It's shady as f**k, a nasty little alliance. Wakey have done it knowing they have nothing at all to gain. I hope a team does a similarly spiteful number on them. Like I say, it could have cost Leeds big time. If Wakey do a Bradford and ever start begging for money they can f**k right off. Won't get a penny from me.

This. When Leeds signed Gareth Ellis, I think boxing day games for a number of years against Wakefield were thrown in as a sweetener. Business is business!

I'm not sure offloading an injured player for cap space late in the season is comparable to arranging a friendly fixture which always featured a West Yorkshire side as opposition anyways.

To be honest, this doesn't seem that dissimilar to what Leeds have done in getting the lads sent to Featherstone and Hunslet off the salary cap books.
Maybe we should step away from the glass house before throwing those sorts of stones?

But those lads at Featherstone and Hunslet are actually playing and contributing, Baldwinson in particular getting good reviews from Fev fans.
On the other hand Grix isn't going to play and it seems like they knew that all along.
That's the difference, sending an injured guy on loan. If we sent Sutcliffe or JJB out on loan for the rest of the year it'd be comparable.

| Shady as hell and I hope both teams have a miserable end to the season. Warrington are so desperate it's almost funny.

| Article on the YEP
Grix will continue to work with the Warrington medical team during his loan period.
Didn't we get in trouble for having our loan lads in for training with us? At least they were clubs who only train part time. Wakey is a full time club who should be the ones trying to get him out on the field for them if he's on loan there. Warrington's medical team won't be bothered about trying to get him fit for Wakefield's benefit. How can Wakefield decide if he's fit enough to play if he's on some treatment table in Warrington? I wonder how many times, if any, Grix has actually visited Belle Vue since the deal was made.

| When did Simon Grix get injured? It was last season wasn't it?
Not 100% how the cap rules work but if he never even played a game for Wire this season then would his salary even count on the cap for this year?

| Sounds like a lot of over reaction to what seems like a reasonable wheeze. If Grix can be got back playing more quickly by continuing to work with Wires medical staff and plays a few games he may to be important to a Wakey side staring down the barrel of relegation. If I were a Wakey fan I would expect them to do everything with in the rules to try and maintain Super League status. Ditto Warrington, I wonder if those so outraged by this little dodge / smart business move, would react if there was a way for us to bring in a hooker under similar circumstances. The deadline has passed but if it hadn't and we could have found a similar way to bring in cover for Aiton, I doubt many would have wanted us to pass up the chance because it was "against the spirit" etc

| Apologies for ignorance but if this free's up cap space for Warrington presumably Wakey are paying his wages?
If so it's more of a ty move from Warrington, as that's money Wakey could have used to bring in someone to actually play and keep them up.
Or am I over complicating it?

| I'm guessing Warrington will be paying him, legally or paper bags. why would Wakey pay him if he won't play?

| I'm gradually losing respect for Tony Smith. He slated Darryl Powell (yes we all know he's a whinger) when he spoke out about Westwood putting Gale in hospital, and now in his desperation to land Sandow, his brother steps in at the 11th hour to take an injured player off his hands to free up the cap space. It's not shrewd business, it's a win at all costs mentality. I hope Sandow is a huge failure, and I hope Wakey go down
