"Leeds is the greatest club in Rugby League"
Alex Murphy 2011: |
|
| I'll be quite honest, I'm looking forward to a semi final somewhere different, a few beers and the craic with the Wire fans, but as for the game itself, it's not something I'm looking forward to. It may turn out to be a Wire v Leeds 2011 play off job, the under performing underdog strikes back, but the more I think about it the less likely it seems. I'll be there shouting myself ho, but I'll glad when this one is all over.

| I'm not....still in Russia will miss the match (and not even set to be recorded)...SO, the team will likely put in their best performance of season, win a terrific match and I will see nothing.

| I am, whilst not many seem to give us much chance that may work in our favour.
I have a feeling that the wire think its game set and match to them. Anyway I am a veteran of semi-finals. The worst disaster was the defeat at Central Park when widnes rolled us over. Fast forward a few years to a success story, once again at Central Park when we beat saints.
So long as I see a big effort from the lads that will do for me, what I don't want to see is a dumbass decision from Bentham that will effect the games outcome for us.

| I think some of the pessimism is misplaced. Wire have had some iffy results lately too.
You'd be forgiven for thinking they were top and we were bottom reading these boards.
I don't get out much, so I'm just looking forward to the game being on proper telly so I can spend a couple of hours debating whether or not Rugby League is better than CBeebies with my two year old.

| The Bookies make decisions based on hard hearted facts.
They all have you as favourites for both Saturday & to win the Cup.
It is us that are the underdogs.

| The only people that don't seem to be giving Leeds a chance are Leeds fans.
I'm of the opinion that we'll win a close game or get hammered.

I said the same thing to my mate over the weekend.
Leeds will win a tight game by 4 - 6 points or Warrington will win by 12 - 16. Either of these 2 results could happen & I wont be betting on this game.

"The Golden Generation finally has its Golden Fleece! They have Wembley Cup Final winners medals to add to their collection."

I don't think either team are the underdogs, think it's fairly 50/50. Much has been made on here asking/suggesting that this Leeds team might not be able to win the big ones anymore. Which I agree is a valid question that we'll only see answered AT THE END of the season even if some have already decided the answer is no.
On the other hand even though some have pointed to Warrington's dominance in this competition in recent years as a main reason as to why they're favourites a question hangs over this current Wire team for me. Can they/Are they able to repeat it without Briers, Hodgson (the MOM's in the two finals vs us) as well as former captain Morley and starting prop Carvell? The Warrington line-up on Saturday will have a noticeable difference to the one which last lifted them a trophy.
Think in all the concentration on Leeds fortunes of late some haven't taken too close a look at Wire. They're missing very key men from their past successes. They went a good run of wins of late, but mostly made up of the bottom 6. For all the talk of how Leeds' defence has declined recently, since the start of July we've conceded 84 points compared to Warrington's 122. Whilst they got back on the horse against Catalans it came off the back of two losses where they shipped 34 points on average. People might complain about our sub prop options but if you've visited the Wire board this year then you'll see they hold Asotasi in a similar vain as Kirke on here.

| Its a CC semi anything can happen Wigan hammered us with a scratch team at HQ yet we beat them in the CC a matter of weeks later.
This Team/Squad can beat anyone when we get it right I just hope we "turn up" and put a shift in.

| Leeds will win. You're the better side and have been playing within yourself.
Same old story really when it comes to Leeds.
