| 1 match ban for McGuire is in most peoples opinion a fair result, got to say it was a reckless tackle and should be judged upon, but cant help but think the hearing itself was a massively influenced by some of our pie eating friends.
Ive said in an earlier post that i think its not right for coaches and players to comment on such an incident until the punishment has being handed out and for that reason i feel Wane and Tomkins have tried (and maybe) suceeded in trying to influence the outcome for their comments this week.
I hope McGuire does appeal, rather than a dlibarate attempt to hurt his opponent, it was merely a reckless tackle, could he even have grounds to appeal due to outside (Wigan) influences on the RFL's verdict?????

| We all need to move on and let this go now - at the end of the day a 1 match ban is a fair outcome.
I agree that Wane's comment about the challenge being worse than McIlorum's was bang out of order, but don't think that affected the decision. The incident was pretty clear cut - let's just hope that a rested Danny can come back for the GF

Wouldn't argue with 1 match as it was reckless but nowhere near the one perpetrated by the Wigan thug. I also wouldn't worry about Wane, as they are just the ramblings of a myopic, bitter Pie.

| In any other sport, Wane & Tomkins would be asked to explain their comments and potentially charged with bringing the game into disrepute. Actually, if they were from any other club they probably would have too

| Lets see who's next on the Sky/Wane/Tomkins hit list. God help any aggressive tacklers in the Saints v Wire game, will almost certainly be worse than Cassidy's smash on Mozza by the time they've finished moaning. It's one way of winning SL I suppose

| Wane has acted a bit like those footballers who run up to the referee waving an invisible yellow card after every tackle!

I know, it's a bit like correcting grammar on a message board. Makes you feel a bit better about yourself but doesn't really make the game any better.

| Why does everyone on here keep crying about Shaun Wane expressing his opinion yet continue to ignore the comments your own coach made live on sky during the club call? Was that not trying to influence the decision? SW shouldn't have made the comments he did, Neither should Sam Tomkins but reading some of the posts on here over the last few days has kept me entertained. Of course no one will agree with me, But I wouldn't expect you to. Both as bad as each other.

| When McDermott makes a comment about an opposition player his team could be facing the following week even before the disciplinary committee have sat in judgement then perhaps you can pop back and let us know.
Of course he may have done so already as he clearly had the opportunity to do so after the double Wigan send-off at Manchester Magic a week before they rolled into Headingley. If he had these same Leeds fans would be castigating their own coach for similarly classless remarks. Yes really they would.

Thats not my point though is it. He is claiming Shaun Wane influenced the decision by making a comment in the media. Regardless of it being about an opposition player or not. When he himself had already made a comment live on national television asking that "common sense should prevail and he isn't banned". The fact that the comment happened to be about an opposition player is irrelevant. They have both still said something in the media regarding a disciplinary hearing, But in this case the result hasn't gone Mcdermott's way and he has decided to spit his dummy out. In an Ideal world both of them would have kept their gobs shut and let the RFL get on with it. Wane has a lot to learn, But Mcdermott's reaction is priceless. The ban for me warranted the one match ban and for him to be implying that Wane's comment is the reason he got the ban and not the fact that he smacked someone round the head in the first place (intentional or not) is hilarious.

| Agreed they both should have stayed quiet until after the disciplinary had met.
I haven't seen what McDermott has said since the hearing with regards to Wane's comments but don't doubt I would probably disagree with them. The challenge was probably deserving of a ban as there looked to be an element of cheap-shot frustration involved. Purely from my own subjective opinion.
