| The main thing is not to get too carried away and disPondent about 1 result look at last year.
Struggling to find any positives about tonight's performace best to just forget about it and kick some in training.
Negatives
The whole pack completely dominated by saints no go forward.
Mcshane doesn't look like he is the answer at 9 at all very poor
Burrow is poor at scrum half. I know he is behind a beaten pack but he has alot more impact when not having to organise.
I have always been a massive fan and supporter of smith but he is dire to tonight. No way should he be our full back instead of Webb. I though he could be but I was wrong. No urgency chasing ball back. Walking the ball back up. Flat footed in defence and no use in attack not a good game.
The only positive I can find is I didn't go to the game last minute decided the 8hr Overtime was more appealing. Good call !

| Mcshane certainly didn't do himself any favour. His defence was poor and his missed tackle count I can only imagine will be high

| Saints came out like men posessed. When you look at recent weeks you can only assume the players didn't like what simmons was doing so far this season.
I don't think any team in super league would have beaten them on that performance although others would have put up a much better fight and probably been in the game until the end.
We got a right good ol shellacking, they really did a number on us! We've copped a good few of those at saints over the recent era but have still beaten them in 4 grand finals so i wouldn't read too much into tonight.
'Just one of those games', 'bad day at the office' *insert cliche* as appropriate.

| When you have no momentum from minute 1 and you're dropping off tackles against a side with a point to prove it's almost impossible to change the pattern of the game. Not complicated stuff really, move on.

| Not going to write anyone completely off after a game against a Saints team which played very well but McShane was very poor defensively.
I started to feel sorry for Smith, Webb would have had a tough time in that game, but he just looked so lethargic when a kick went in, and he was a million miles off offering what Webb gives us in attack.
We needed to get into the Saints pack early doors but the penalty off the first play just summed it all up.
Sinfield and Burrow took some really poor last tackle options.
End of the day lets look forward to Hudds who should give us a really good game and look to bounce back.
Oh, and Kirke put a few good runs in!

| Moore went ok . That apart I was embarrassed. Mcshane and smith will be lucky to see a first team shirt in a long while I think

| Missing our two most creative players, with the other one (Sinfield) having too much to do coinciding with one of those games he has occasionally where everything he does is wrong.
Poor defensive attitude and positioning across the team. The only occasion I remember where we actually *improved* when Kirke came on for JP, but when even Ade Gardner plays like a world-beater perhaps you're always onto a hammering.
On my viewing actually thought McShane played ok, but might have mixing him up with some other pink-haired guy. Similarly thought Ablett and Delaney had shockers, but that might have been someone else too. Moore (who I did recognise) was a positive on the night.

| It's sport you can't win them all and as soon as saints came out you knew
We were in trouble. As I say the smith performance really stood out for
Me as I thought he could be a good full back

I was annoyed with smith but i kinda felt really sorry for him.
He was mom for us in 2008 grand final and scored 2 tries in 2009 and generally looked a good all round back, whether it be winger, fullback or centre.
He went to union and it didn't work out, so he came back to us in 2010 and just doesn't seem to have recoevered what he had. Then with the emergence of bishop and watkins he's not had a good run in the team.
Kinda sad really.

| I don't want to criticise Leeds too much, but they've never been good as favourites, I think they turned up with a bit of arrogance, seems to occur most years with Leeds. I don't think the hair dying was a good idea.
I think Lee Smith might have played his last game, he had a point to prove but was too slow. Although Webb and McGuire might not have done a lot tonight, we realise what they bring in attack.
Lastly, Watkins needs to receive more early ball. Delaney gets in the way, when an early ball would be a better option.

| I thought Kallum Watkins was terrible in defence at times tonight, Taking the dummy from Paul Wellens conceding the TRY and the two man 'effort' with Jones-Bishop on Wheeler (IIRC) was pathetic, the're two that automatically spring to mind.

| Burrow showed why he has been moved to hooker tonight. Some awful options. Smith was poor but I thought the main problem was that our pack got an absolute battering. JP and kylie were as poor as I can remember.
What concerned me was how it took (I think) 25 for us to give one of best strike players in Watkins the ball, and surprisingly he made a break straight away

| Not much I can disagree with in any of the above. I've been critical of Smith since his return and think tonight might just be the last nail in the coffin. He simply seems to have lost his pace and decisiveness.
Wouldn't be too critical of McShane. He hasn't played at this level for a while and maybe there's a little lack of confidence. He wasn't the only key player to show up poor tonight.
One in the eye for all the Kirke-bashers tonight. After that first 20 minute onslaught I thought he played a major role in helping to stop the rot (at least for the next 40 minutes or so)
Just have to hoped that we don't have a repeat of this performance when the season starts in September.
