'Personality of the year'

The facts will show we reached a CC Final and won the GF from the lowest ever position. Two great achievements that do deserve recognition. But anybody who has seen any of his interviews must know he has the personality of a dead cat.

I've heard him speak in person. You're wrong. I think you're wrong but, most importantly, his players think you're wrong.

However, I'd like you to be given the opportunity to prove you're right by approaching Brian, telling him what you think and listening to his reaction.

Honestly Id like to be proved wrong.

Ive never heard him in person so cant comment on that. My view is based on seeing his TV interviews and reading the written word of his interviews (think this is in danger of turning into a disclaimer).

On that basis he fails to engage the audience, his tone is monotone and his eyes are fixed on the floor. Im no media trainer but he comes across lacking any umph.

Not disputing what he has got out of the players, more in the scond half of the season and I clearly said he should recieve recognition for that.

But personality... sorry, Ive never seen it.

Are you aware that Personality in that sense basically means person and has nothing at all to do with the personality of the person?

what are we discussing here?

Personality in the sense that he obviously isn't a man who thinks deeply about his feelings, his philosophy of the game of rugby league, his players feelings and how to best motivate them in times of duress, how to handle the press he receives both good and bad, the strength of his convictions and his belief in himself and his team when everyone else doubted their ability to achieve anything?

Or personality in terms of not having a polished media savvy veneer to present to the press, replete with throw away soundbites and casual banter?

You're sounding like me there Gareth! See, I said similar to you many months ago, im glad that you trusted my judgement of character/have been 'converted'

In what sense was he "forced" to start Sinfield at 6, McGuire at 7, and Burrow on the bench?

So are you saying TV performances are the best way to judge a coach?
