| Not been debated for a while I think, so here goes.
If a sugar daddy were to come along & offer to bankroll a new ground with a 25000 all under cover capacity where could & should it be built?
Here's my starter for 10.
The site of Tetley's now defunct brewery.
Close to the city centre, good transport links, acres of land for the development.

Hmmm, not too many acres for car parks though and a main road straight through the middle of the site.
I think it should be somewhere out the other side of Rothwell, right up against the border with Wakefield Council just so they can stick their oar into our planning applications.

It was up for sale until a few weeks ago but the developers aren't starting till spring, so if someone made them an offer they couldn't refuse?

| The Tetleys site could be perfect. Its close to the city and has great transport links. I think a great stadium could be built easily on the vacated land to the west of Black Bull Street with ample parking to the west of Black Bull Street. i think also if the stadium was close to the city centre far fewer people would drive. Also with the amount of privately owned car parks in that area there would be more than enough parking.
The only issue with this loction is its getting very very close to Hunslet.
if we are talking city centre locations, and as its a sugar daddy money would obviously be no object my personal option would be the Temple Works area off Water Lane alongside Globe Road. The council would easily be swayed so we could take into account the land on either side of Globe Road and close the road to create the stadium. With the southern entrace being built at the train station we'd have a direct link into the transport hub of the station including the taxi and bus area to the front of the stadium. We'd also have great routes to the M1 and M621 via Great Wilson Street. As for parking there is a lot of space still available on Whitehall Road which would be next to the stadium to accomodate fans. It would also provide a good revenue stream during the week with people working in Leeds

| Also may i suggest the massive plot on sweet street that used to be LA Bowl and all that. it was ear marked for the Leeds Arena but they lost out with that plot. 5 min walk from the train station and right next to the motorway
Also the massive plot that used to be where Jolly Giant was. Tons of space.
You can tell I'm a read of Skyscrapper City

Realistically I can't think of any city-centre stadium in the world in a large city that is sustainable on 15 events a year.
The trend for urban "new heritage" baseball stadiums is on the back of plenty of civic cash knowing that an influx of people 80+ times a year will bring huge benefits to hotels, restaurants and businesses of the area, at which point the councils can recoup their investments with sales tax. The UK doesn't work like that, and any investor for a potential Tetley's stadium would have to be willing to set fire to millions and millions of pounds, way beyond Moran or McManus, getting the project off the ground, even considering the sale of Headingley, and then face very limited returns when it got up-and-running.
The only way it's even a possibility is getting Leeds Utd involved and using a load of council cash. But Ken Bates currently runs Leeds Utd and he's a man to avoid doing business with, while the council is practically bankrupt.
Meanwhile, there is a site a only couple of miles from the city centre, with plenty of pubs and buses and trains, reasonable parking and an unmatchable Rugby League heritage...

| Love this to happen. And think the site that Leeds United originally planned for just off the M1 link road near stourton is perfect for it.

| If it was me, I would flatten West Park Bramhope and build it there... After building a 10k stadium for York on land by the A64 earmarked for the University that is.
I would also build a 50k all-seater Rugby League National stadium somewhere near the M1/M62 junction, and rent it to Leeds Utd...
It's good when moneys no object innit.

| Quote: Sam Buca II "My only stipulation is that it has to be North of the river!'" Agreed.
This is crazy talk anyway because even a new investor would be brave to write off the millions already ploughed into the site and its emotional connection as pretty much the de facto home of Rugby League. But regardless, if we were to move, one thing has to be clear: the club is not a city centre or south of the river club - it is of and belongs in north Leeds.

| Any where away from Headingley , in a purpose built stadium with great facilities for supporters with good direct transport links , train and cars , and car parking all round the stadium , like some stadia in USA , in a area that on match days would not effect the surrounding residential area ,
Just starting to wish we had moved away from headingley , and when visiting other clubs like Wigan JJB , Hull and now saints and cas when there is bulit that leeds should have gone the same way not impressed with the new rugby or cricket stands down there at all

| kirkstall Forge site anybody?. Could open a rail station there too, and still in North Leeds. The whole saga with the local residents and the Southstand, and the huge cost of replacing the North stand means it maybe cheaper to up sticks and move.

Have they shelved the plans to build the urban village at the forge. Also further up on the right side of the river between Rodley and horsforth the massive old mill
