I emailed the RFL early September to find out when they would announce the fixture (one reason to try and find out if the Cardiff MM was going ahead and when). They told me 2 weeks. 2 weeks later towards the end of September I contacted them again and they said a couple of weeks.
Is there not a fixed date when they are announced? If there was you would think they could have told me at the start - you do wonder sometimes if they can organise anything

I suspect the RFL has a tough old time getting the fixtures arranged anyways hence they cant set a definitive date. With teams that share grounds that are merely tennants they will have to check with the wendyball teams when they can use the grounds etc. Plus there is policing issues too. For instance they wouldnt really want a Hull KR v Hull FC match to be on when Hull Tigers are playing over at the KFC stadium. Also Sky will have a certain say as they wouldnt want a friday night when its Leeds V Bulls, Wigan v Saints and Wire v Hudds

I had assumed all of that would be fed into their computer and the fixtures would be churned out for the season.
Surely they don`t rely on someone trying to work all that out themselves on a piece of paper?

RFL have computers that are that complex as to create fixtures, pfft if their ticketing systems were anything to go by then no they don't.

Nah they will have software to do it but they'll be waiting for all the variables to be inputted first such as Police requirements and wendyball requirements etc. Once they have it all I dont envisage it being such a big job

Heard a rumour that we will kick off away to St Helens.

Regarding the rumour that the SL Champions could choose their opening fixtures the following season in order to help their chances of winning that WCC game, Then i recall that our opening fixture in 2008/2009 & 2010 looked to be selective IMO

Have we chosen such a difficult seasons opening game though against Saints away as preparation?

Either that, or Saints have asked RFL for the fixture to open their SL campaign at their new ground with a sell out crowd.
