Thinking of getting train to Manchester Saturday. Usually go in a car.

Any Rhinos fans gone from Leeds City Station in the past? Best time to get train? Any chance of a brekkie at Wetherspoons? Easy to get back?

Or is it a nightmare journey?

The train from Leeds is so easy we do it every time we beat saints. Breakfast in wetherspoons. Good atmospher due to lots of fans and this year the added bonus of England France to enjoy/laugh at

I just wondered If it was an experience to prepare yourself for as I bet alot of fans go for it!

Had a mare in 2008, wasn't helped by the weather. Was stood outside Picadilly for ages 'waiting' for a bus with about a few hundred others having got to the front of the queue and got told the train was full. In the end TPX 'found' a train that could take us back.

First & last time I used public transport to/from Old trafford

Usually do the train with no real dramas. We generally find that walking back to Manchester post match is quicker than waiting for the tram queue.

It'll be standing room both ways though.

We always get the train to OT. It's always dead easy and good fun.

I can't comment on the journey back, as we have a tee-total mate who meets us at the game and gives us a lift home.

get a train from Leeds to Man Victoria and then take Metrolink from there to OT station(next to the cricket ground-home of the 2011 County Champions)

Picadilly has done that loads of times to me. Waiting outside for a f-cking bus in a queue of about 9 thousand.

I'm going to throw a curveball here, anyone thought of using National Express? The 060 from leeds to manchester only takes an hour and its cheaper than the train. Personally though i will be using a mini bus and sitting on the motorway for hours on the way home

Twas awful. Got to the front of the queue for the train having waited 30mins, I was p*ss wet through and just wanted to get home. To get told to go stand outside in the rain was a joke, especially when the bus never turned up and we ended up on a train!

Train from Leeds takes about an hour too so Nat Ex will be as good. Book now though.

Other options would be to take ythe long route back to Leeds from Victoria. I reckon less would use this train as it takes about 2 hours to Leeds. You'd like to think TPE would stick on additional carrages on a day like this, but then that would mean them being proactive!

Another trick I would suggest is what I use when working in Manchester and travelling in rush hour. Head to Oxford Road train station and catch the Liverpool to Leeds train. They are less frequant but most fans will head to Piccalilly to catch the Leeds trains so you might be good to get a seat here

Done the train from Leeds to Manchester for the final, never again. Transpennine Express services are famous for being short, and they do not make any excepetion for a big event (in my experience).

I have also had the pleasure of queuing outside Manchester Piccadilly after a gig before, let's just say it isn't difficult to slide your way into the front of the queue

i caught the train over a few years ago - it was okay going - coming back was a nightmare - everybody coing back at the same time - there was no extra carriages put on had to scrap to get on the train then stand up all the way back to leeds in cramed condition plus there was a few fights and people still drunk

not me again but many will no doubt
