| If you looked at last night's starting side it is pretty much the best line up McDermott has. On the bench you would swop Clarkson for Hauraki and Burgess for Ali
So how does anyone think this is going to get any better - no matter who coaches them. This side has run its course and needs breaking up if we are to compete with the better sides in the competition.
It has been well and truly spanked by all 3 of the top 4 sides and lucky to get a draw against Wigan.
Bringing in a prop and a centre is not going to transform this side - all those who think the likes of Kylie, Senior, Bailey, Peacock and Webb should be given a further contract extension need their bumps feeling.
McDermott has to shoulder some of the blame but the squad he is working with are simply not at the races

| I agree there needs to be change, and that the older players need to be released, but what does he do with them all week?
I would release Webb, Senior, Leuluai, Lauitiiti, Kirke and try to get rid of Hauraki and Cross. I also expect Burgess to leave. Bailey gets a 1 year stay of execution because I simply don't think we can pick up that many new props in one close season, but has to really up his game if he wants to stay beyond 2012. I would put BJB or Hardaker at 1, Watkins at 4, and Clarkson into the second row, with the other replacements for Leuluai, Kirke, (ideally) Hauraki and Cross, and unfortunately Burgess all coming from outside the club.
Oh and if we don't think Smith can play at 3 then we also need a centre too as Delaney will never be a Centre as long as I have a hole in my butt...

"This guy Brent Webb, hes breathtaking with ball in hand but just lets himself down with ill-disipline!" Stevo v the quins.: |
|
| What is the point of Hauraki and Ali these days? To play both of them is madness. Neither are up to it. I loved what Ali has done for Leeds he was absolutely great to watch and at times a world class performer who always showed up for the big games. But that time has gone and probably went a year or two ago. Hauraki hasnt done anything productive yet. Half a season and he has shown nothing really. That offload just before ht when he threw it blind straight to a saints man was just pathetic.
And yet mcdermott picks them. Both.

Duncan - you are not going to teach mature players - especially those at Leeds to play a different way - Peacock isn't going change now, these three half backs aren't suddenly going to develop a kicking game - that is why you have to change the players otherwise you cannot change the patterns.

| I also feel we need some powerful, hard running hard hitting second rowers.
We have plenty of 2nd row options but to me they are all of a muchness in terms of size/speed/power etc.
In fact you could extend the above comments to our back 3.
The likes of Sinfield,Ablett,JJB,Clarkson all lack size and power etc.
Compare our back 3 last night to saints who had Solioa and Puletua named in the back 3. A massive difference there in terms of hitting power in defence and power/pace and punch in terms of go forward.
If our props dont and cannot get us go forward then most of our second rowers are also going to fail as they simply dont have the power/size/speed to generate quick play the balls in todays game with the better defences of the top teams.
For all our possession and efforts in the first 30 mins last night we hardly ever looked like making a break of any significance. It was just one man rugby 5 drives to hopefully get to a kick.

| For me, I'd get rid of Webb, Senior, Cross, Hauraki, Kirke and Lauitiiti.
Full Back BJB (With Hardaker and Smith as cover)
Wingers Hall, Hardaker (Smith as cover)
Centres Watkins and new signing (Smith as cover)
Half Backs McGuire and new signing (Burrow bench and cover)
Props Leuleui, Peacock, Burgess, Bailey, Ambler and Amor (Maybe a top quality signing)
Hookers Buderus, McShane, Hood
Second Rows JJB, Clarkson, Ablett, Delaney (Top quality second row with size like the previous poster mentions)
Loose Forward Sinfield
So sign a top quality half back, prop, centre and second row. Also get a good versatile back as squad member.

| Sal whilst i agree there need to be squad changes the Coach has to go aswell there is absolutely no structure whatsoever with or without the ball and any coach worth his salt could and should have that team competing at the very least.

Agree McDermott could do a better job but this side would not beat the top 4 even if Wayne Bennett coached them. The squad is simply not good enough - sadly Hetherington has done what he always has - rested on his laurels.
The thought of Peacock, Senior, Kylie, Webb, Kirke Bailey, Delanney, Hauraki etc trotting out next year doesn't bear contemplation - sadly it is what will happen.
And what is even sadder is that most on here would give Peacock, Senior, Webb, Kylie a contract extension - it is simply beyond belief

47035_1386433761.gif We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47035.gif |

| Do the forwards really need replacing????
They did their job for 40 minutes and offered Leeds unlimited field position in our half, but your backs did squat with it.
I know it's hard to say but your halfbacks have lost their pace and there seams to be little else left, no guile and no kicking game. It maybe that they are fresh back from injury and so some of their pace may return, so they may just need time.
Sinfield got critism for making duff plays, but he was the only back trying anything and with the loss of senior, you just seamed to lack any cutting edge anywhere. Maybe in a few weeks Burrows and Maguires running game may return, but if not, that and FB maybe where Leeds need to look at replacements. Sinfield can't do it all alone.

| David, you are argueing with yourself at times. The vast majority want a clear out of players. However what is the point in this if you have the same half witted coach? He isn't up to scratch mate, not even close. We need a fresh start right across the board
