| With quite a few current players coming OOC how many would you renew ,release and where would you target replacements/improvements?
Would you look at 1 or 2 or go for a full overhaul?
Just to add would you also retain and trust the current coaching set-up to carry this out?

| I would start with the coaching team and then go from there. I don't know who is available but the current "brains trust" must have locked theirs in a safe and lost the combination...
If "passing the ball more so other teams have to run more and you tire them out, thus leading to more scoring chances" is really our main tactic this season then we need to give more thought to our next coaching appointment.
On the playing front, we need new younger blood, and plenty more pace. Oh and a bit more metreage in the front row would help.
More structure, organisation and better technique both with and without the ball would be a good place to start...

| The question is are we as fans prepared to go through 2 years rebuilding a side? Leeds have some exciting youngsters but they will need time to gel as a unit - a clear out is required and this will include some high profile departures. Warrington showed last night the quality required - Leeds will not get there by renewing the contracts of the likes of Bailey, Peacocok, Senior, Kylie, Kirke, Webb etc
The forwards don't hit in defense and struggle to make any yardage - but when you have 2 starting props who are both well into their 30s why do we expect anything more?
The nucleus of this side has been together since 2003/4 it needs breaking up - too much loyalty to players who have done it in the past who are no longer able to compete at the top level.
Sadly all I see is contract being handed out to likes of Senior, Peacock, Kylie, Kirke, Bailey etc - how GH thinks this will enable Leeds to improve sufficiently to challenge the top sides is beyond me.
My 17
1. Hardaker
2. BJB
3. New centre required
4. Watkins
5. Hall
6. McGuire
7. New scrum half
8. Ambler
9. McShane
10. Burgess - if he will stay - if not new prop
11. Clarkson
12. Sinfield - against the poorer sides OK but against the top sides the attack needs freshning
13. Ablett
14. Singleton
15. Hood
16. New Prop required
17. Delanney/new backrow forward.
To pad the squad out we need another young half back, a utility back to cover wing/centre, a prop and an attacking back row forward.
Leavers
Peacock - sadly his glory days are well behind him
Senior - great player but sadly passed it
Webb - Hardaker is the future in this position and he needs the opportunities
Ali - last night showed how far away he is from the players he was.
Kylie - OK against the poor sides but he really struggles when the tempo rises
Kirke - Luckiest man alive to get 3 GF rings
Buderus - if McShane is to develop he has to be given a go long term
Burrow - time for a change
Bailey - see Cross comments
JJB - too small for the modern game
Hauraki - he was terrible last night
Cross - he is bad but not as bad Bailey who contributes nothing but a big mouth
On the coaching - McDermott needs a technical type assistant that can coach defensive patterns and basic line running.

The reason for me is Hardaker's game/defensive awareness - BJB doesn't seem to have that - I think Hardaker is better suited to the position IMO.

To be fair, Wire's starting front row had a combined age of 95. It's about how you use them as well as the miles on the clock.

My issue will JJB is against top sides he doesn't hit - he get driven back in the tackle too easy - I agree re his willingness but that isn't enough to compete anymore. He would be a casualty of the need for culture change
On Buderus he was amongst the best last night - but McShane will not develop if he doesn't get game time - something he seems to be getting less and less of.
I would make Buderus assistant coach next year and see how he goes - it can only be an improvement.

Compare Morley to Kylie - Morley played 60 minutes straight - Kylie managed 30 in the whole game.

| i agree with alot of that sal, although id keep JJb, peacock, and buderus, id be tempted to let kirke, and bailey go, still undecided on webb but when youve got bish coming through youve got to think long term
we definately need a new centre and two top forwards.
as for a half back i know hes young and probably isnt anywhere near ready yet, but whats the opinion of marcus elliot in the 18's looks very good to me, quick with good foot work

Agree with all of this. Changing coach would not change a thing, although I do hold him responsible for last night.
The only thing I would question above is Kirke. Amazing to say it, but last few weeks he'a been a stand out positive, unlike some of his team mates.
Big changes were needed this year, 2011, it did not happen. I suspect now not enough will happen for 2012. It will be 2014 again before we go into big games confident of winning.

sorry but it think thats rubbish mate. he is a third rate coach. look at wigan, warrington and the giants who were average teams yet with the nucleus of same players but with a top class coach are all top sides

I never said he was a good coach tad, but that changing would make no difference. The problem his the tools at his disposal. It may well be that it won't work for him with any tools, but that is a different thing all together.
We had a good coach before him, a good coach who jumped before his contract ended because he knew exactly how these players had reached their end game.
His selections last nigh, and substitutions played a massive part in the scoreline, but would it really have done anything to the resul?
We change the coach and forget the playing squad, and this time next year the exact same comments will be posted by posters.

Thats fair enough, as long as the players are not left out of the changes. Although i would also have to say that Buderus as assistant IMO would make a hug difference to McDermott.
