I am a bit fan of playing golf (yes I am boring) and I am a bigger fan of winning money. Has anyone got any good tips for the tourniment? play the game but dont generally watch too much of it. some of the odds randomly selected from William Hill are

Lee WESTWOOD 16/1
Martin KYMER 18/1
Luke DONALD 25/1
Rory MCLROY 25/1
Paul casey 35/1
Sergio GARCIA 50/1

any tips from the above or others most welcome!!!!!! icon_wink.gif

From the players you listed I would put my money on Luke Donald he is playing well at the moment and is accurate enough to win around Augusta.

I think Tiger Woods will win though, he is getting steadily better and always plays well in the masters.

Mickleson has to be a good bet at Augusta
Lee Westwood has done well at Augusta
Never rule out Woods. Interested to see his odds
Donald. Steady but might not be long enough
Garcia. If you want to throw your money away, then by all means
Real off the wall out sider Martin Laird. Been in good form early doors and won last week. Might have a girly each way bet on him.
Expect someone to come out of the pack that you wouldn't have expected to be up there, Zack Johnson, Trevor Immleman recent examples.

Is that good? I don't bet so have no idea icon_lol.gif

He is usually the favourite by a mile but after his last few years off the course people (commentators) are giving him no chance.

He is favorite with the bookies. Was considering puting westwood down to win at 16/1 and then Donald as a each way bet.

You don't need to be long to win around Augusta, he hits fairways and greens and is one of the best long iron and putters there is which is why I think he will be close on Sunday*.

[size* now that I have said this he will no doubt miss the cut

Matt Kucher must have a chance - to win here you need good distance control and you need to putting touch of the highest order.

Westwood - no chance not good enough putter
Donald - too short off the tee
Casey - no bottle
McIlroy - has the distance not sure about the control
Garcia - with a putting stroke like his he will be lucky to make the weekend

agree Kutcher has a good chance, think that he is roughly same odds as Westwood. Dont agree regarding Westwood. He definatley does have a chance has come close a few times

Kaymer 18/1!!! Im putting something on that. Rory is due something too I reckon. He has all the talent in the world and will be number 1 in the next year or 2.

Im going to throw this out there though (ok, I know its not really a surprise but no one has mentioned him)... Dustin Johnson.

He has the game that suits Augusta but has a last day nerves problem after blowing 3 big comps in the last 9 months when leading going into the final day. If he want to push on in the world rankings then he will need to get over this.

Ricky Fowler... one of my favorite golfers to watch. This kid is pure entertainment and plays at 100mph. Not always the most accurate golfer but he knows how to save a hole from awkward positions.

Bubba icon_smile.gif Another fun golfer to watch but when he messes up he does it in style. Massive off the tee averaging 310 yards!!! (Yes, thats an average). He is capable of holding it together and wouldnt be surprised to see him being handed the green jacket just after midnight early Monday morning.

As Sal said Kucher will be there or there abouts. He is in my top 3 in world golf at the moment. He is all class and is such a controlled person, like Kaymer, which is what you need in a Major.

The people im ruling out...

Westwood - Cant ever see him winning at Augusta. The greens are the toughest in world golf and if you get into trouble around them you need a short game thats 2nd to none and by his own admission, thats where he falls short.

Woods - Yes, he's starting to find his old game more and more now but he is shooting the scores he wants in 1 or 2 rounds a comp. The other 2 or 3 are average to poor still. He will need to have 3 good rounds and a solid round to have a chance at Augusta and I just dont think he's there yet.

Mickleson - His games gone recently. Unless he miraculously finds some form next week I think he will be around the cut mark at best.

A few people have mentioned Garcia's name but WTF? icon_lol.gif He never looked like winning when he was in his prime! Now he has lost interest in the game and is content on being an average golfer who makes half a mill or so a year. He hasnt won for almost 3 years now and would be shocked if he even made the cut in this.

As an outside-outside bet have a look at Kevin Na. He's a 27 year old American who has his moments. He is ranked 24th in the FedEx cup at the moment and is averaging 2 shots a round better than Woods this year.

Golf is very exciting at the moment with the emergence of some of these younger players from the States and indeed the UK and Europe. Im looking forward to getting Woods back to his best and I do see it as only being a matter of time. I think there are quite a few now who could push Woods at his best and since he was pegged back 2 years ago in the PGA on the last day he has lost that invincibility that he previously had when leading.

Not seen the odds yet but....

Justin Rose is playing well at present.
KJ Choi is too! He has to be close to a Major title soon.
Also look at Bubba Watson (if he putts well) & Rickie Fowler.

I've made a tidy sum in previous years by betting on Justin Rose before the start of the tournament and then laying him after the first round as his price has come down after leading, to guarantee a profit. He's been leading or very high up after round 1 on more than one occasion then falls apart.
